VipernoseAmber eyes watched as Fallenstar eyed her, giving her a look that told her to shut up. She listened to his words, scoffing quietly at his orders. Sometimes she wished she didn’t have to listen to everything the leader had to say. Vipernose watched as the orange and white tom left the front of his clan to go attend to the ruckus in the back. She couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed at that; why make the problem bigger? But Fallenstar’s reaction to the cream rogue intrigued her. The ShadowClan leader seemed to know this tom, but how? This white-furred tom also appeared to know Fallenstar, and this left Vipernose confused. Who was that cat? Then suddenly, Owlpaw was on Bluepaw. From her point of view, all Vipernose could see was blood spraying everywhere and all she could hear were some not so friendly words being shared. Maplepaw looked bewildered, and she couldn’t seem to muster up any words. The silver tabby could sense more and more cats wandering toward the big group, wondering what was going on. The deputy heard a small voice, and looked straight at Otterkit, who was perched on top of Fallenstar. Her dark yellow orbs were locked on the small tom as he leaped down and through the snow, right to her paws. Vipernose smiled warmly, glad for some company, especially from a cat that she liked. She lowered her head to his level, her gaze soft. “Of course I remember you!” she meowed. “I’m glad you left all those fuc- fox-brained felines. Their language isn’t too nice, is it?” Vipernose sighed in relief, glad she had saved herself from a bad slip up. “And please,” she chuckled. “No formalities are needed. Vipernose is fine, or Viper if you’d like!” The molly leaned in closer. “That nickname is just between you and me, okay? I don’t even let my mate call me that!” She laughed, and briefly touched her nose to the kit’s. The she-cat could hear more profanities being exchanged between Bluepaw and Owlpaw, and she wanted to cover Otterkit’s small ears, but didn’t want to scare the poor kit. Vipernose tried to look anywhere but at the back of ShadowClan, not wanting to draw the petite tom’s attention back to where he came from. The black and silver cat then heard Mushroomstar’s voice, and found trying to look away very hard. Vipernose searched her brain for something to say to distract Otterkit and herself from what was happening. “So,” she said, a little to eagerly. “Um… I don’t know if you knew this, but I was recently appointed as deputy - the leader’s, well, helper!” The tabby mentally slapped herself for acting so dumb. “And I know it’s foolish, but I was wondering if you could give me some advice?” Her smile faltered as she listened to her own words. “What are some good qualities you think a deputy should have, Otterkit? I feel like you’re a trustworthy source.” She tried to stop blabbering, but she knew she couldn’t. Not when she needed to keep the kit away from the inappropriate things happening behind them. Right now, she had a job. And that job was to keep Otterkit as pure and innocent as he could be. _____________________________________________

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone ”Yeah! They are kinda fox-brained. I thought we were supposed to be here to come here peacefully, and Owlpaw is fighting!” He sounded slightly bewildered, but also like he was scolding the older tom. From what he could remember Riverclan had it’s flaws; those stupid cats who claimed to make the clans or something, but they weren’t this violent…. Were they? His orange eyes widened as she said he could call her Viper! What an honor! If it weren’t for his brown fur, he’d surely be blushing in surprise. ”I won’t tell anyone… Viper” He giggled slightly as she brushed her nose against his, the bridge of his nose scrunching up. This she-cat was super nice! She kinda reminded him of his mumma and she definitely had a way with him… Which meant she had a way with kits! Maybe she was a mum? Maybe he could meet her kits. She had a mate, and usually mates had kits. He’d make sure to ask her if she had kits! He felt super happy now, the fighting forgotten. His full attention was on the cat in front of him, weight shifting forward and ears swivelling towards her. The bright tabby’s tail was swishing back and forth as he waited for her to keep talking. ”I know what a deputy is! Riverclan had one.” Okayyy so he didn’t really know what a deputy did, but he was trying to show off. ”Isn’t a deputy like a second in line type of thing?” His eyes narrowing as he tried to think of the correct phrase. ”Advice?” A serious look took hold of his features as he listened, humming quietly. ”Well my mumma said curiosity can kill a cat, and that I shouldn’t leave camp because a fox can get me! So I think a deputy should know when and when not to leave camp, y’know?” He was trying his best, but he wasn’t the most knowledgeable source.
He grinned up at her, waiting for what she would say to his advice.

VipernoseThe she-cat smiled down at Otterkit, forgetting about the cold and the life-threatening circumstances she was currently in. "That's right!" she replied. "Owlpaw isn't being a very good example, is he?" Vipernose wasn't used to being called by her prefix, and for a second she thought the tom was talking to someone else. The tabby could tell the kit was flustered by her politeness, and she loved how adorable it made him look. She hadn't realized how much she missed her kits until now. She missed watching her three daughters fight and then feel bad for a simple scratch. Kittens were so pure and impossible not to love, and Vipernose wished now that she would've spent more time with her litter.
Shaking the clouded look from her eyes, the molly listened to Otterkit speak, noticing that his mood had enlightened rather quickly. She laughed at his boldness and his need to feel knowledgeable; another trait all kits seemed to have. "Oh, right, you're from RiverClan!" Vipernose momentarily wondered what it would be like to have been in two different clans. "Yes! Exactly! The leader appoints the deputy as the second-in-command, and once the leader passes, steps down, or retires, the deputy become the leader of the clan. But as deputy, my job is to organize patrols, make sure everyone gets a meal, and so much more! When you grow up, I think you would be a great deputy." The female smiled again, meaning what she said.
Vipernose thought about his words carefully, making sure she knew what he meant, or what she thought he meant, at least. "That's actually some pretty good advice Otterkit! I never thought of that..." The silver tabby raised a kitty brow, wondering how a little kit could come up with something that is actually worthy of thinking about. "Now I know that you really could be an amazing deputy! You have great ideas!"
The silver tabby touched the top of Otterkit's head with her tail tip, all her worries of the other cats gone. So tell me, little one, what was your Mama like?" she asked. "My mother was... Extraordinary. She was the nicest cat I ever knew. I wish I could've spent more time with her..." A sad look glazed over Vipernose's amber eyes. "Enough about me... Tell me about your mom!" She laid down in the snow in front of him, opening her paws and offering the small tom her warmth. _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone ”Yup! Riverclan was great” Otterkit didn’t look slender like most Riverclan cats, and already looked like he would grow up with broad shoulders and large limbs but he could have been a powerful swimmer. ”I’m kinda hoping there will be water in the new territory” Maybe he mumma would also be there?!
Otterkit’s lips parted slightly in awe as she explained what a deputy did. Woah, that was a big job! ’I think you would be a great deputy’ His tail whipped back and forth in a fluffy frenzy, happy squeaks coming from him. After he calmed down he had a look of deep thought on his face. ”I don’t reckon I’d be a great deputy,” He paused, lowering his voice ”Sometimes I don’t listen to adults! I promise that it was nothing bad! My mumma just told me to not jump into the snow and I did” The nervous butterflies swarmed in his chest as he told Viper his secret.
Noticing that she seemed… upset? He stretched up to press his nose to her shoulder ”Don’t be sad, Viper! I’m sure your mumma loves you” He then thought of the golden she that was his mother. ”She’s super strict! But because I’m her only kit she sometimes, um, does things for me” She had told him to tell no one when she snuck him out of camp.
”She’s fair as well, although that can sometimes be annoying! Whenever I got into tussles with the other kits, I’d get a big telling off” He pouted slightly at that ”I thought she would have came to see me already” His tail drooping slightly.

VipernoseShe held back a scoff. "Well, I hope there's water too!" she chuckled. "I'm already tired of getting water from snow and snow only, aren't you?" She knew exactly what Otterkit meant. He wanted to learn how to swim. Vipernose had no knowledge of swimming; she had never really liked liquid water. It was just so... wet.
The molly watched as an amazed expression claimed the tom's face, and she grinned. To a small kitten like him, the job of a deputy sounded like a rather large task. She remembered when her mother had told her what all the roles of the clans did. She remembered the face she had made, how herculean each occupation sounded. Vipernose's amber eyes softened as Otterkit's tail whipped to and fro, as small and excited squeals escaped his mouth. He was just too cute.
"Nonsense!" she exclaimed. "You'd be a fantastic deputy! And do you really believe I was the perfect kit? I didn't listen! Ever! I wasn't a great listener, and yet here I am." The tabby gestured to herself with her tail.
Her pride vanished at his next words. "I know she loved me. She deserved better than what she got." Vipernose's ears flattened, a tear spilling over and rolling down her cheek to drop and form a small hole in the snow. "Your Mama sounds like mine. My sister died soon after she was born, so I was the only child - like you. We would sneak out of the camp all the time during leaf-bare and play hide and seek in the snow. Those were very good times. I remember one time when I got stuck in a hole trying to hide from her!" Vipernose laughed, a small smile forming on her lips as she recalled the memory.
"Otterkit, Otterkit, Otterkit," she teased as she shook her head. "Don't you know that every mother is like that?" Her mood dropped as his happiness dissipated. "Ah, I know how you feel. When my mother passed, I wouldn't let myself believe it. Every day, I'd wonder if it'd be the day that my Mama would walk through the camp entrance and I would be happy again, but it never happened." Vipernose pulled Otterkit into an embrace with her paw, knowing good and well that they both needed to feel just a little love right now. _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone ”Snow Is super fun to play in, but yeah it’s kind of annoying” His orange eyes widened dreamily, tongue sticking out into the cold ”I don’t really remember the grass, I mean it was green, but I don’t remember what it felt like, or smelt” He had faint memories but couldn’t really remember. He didn’t have the best memory although most kits didn’t so he thought he was fine. He was only four moons, no need to worry!
He then narrowed his eyes at her, letting out a sinister meow ”I reckon you still don’t listen to everything F-fallenstar? Tells you” He was still learning the toms name, okay. ”It just must be so aggravating, if he does something wrong and doesn’t listen to you-“ his eyes then widened as he realised what he was saying ”I don’t mean he does anything wrong!! But all cats can’t be perfect, even adults like you, s-so it must get on your nerves s-sometimes” He ended up just talking his mouth up, before abruptly shutting up.
A frown twisted his nervous expression into one of concentration ”I reckon if I was a mum, I’d be pretty impressed that my daughter was a deputy! It’s a once in a lifetime thing, y’know?” His eyes widened again as the tear dripped down her face and he barrelled into her side ”Don’t cry, Viper! I’m here” Nuzzling her shoulder ”There’s no need to cry!”
It was then that Otterkit hated being treated like a baby, even when he acted like one. He had cried a lot since he had lost his mother, but he loved helping Viper, even if he wasn’t doing anything. It seemed as if he had felt his calling, focus on other needs, not his own. But alas, the flood of adult emotions dried out with the snap of fingers and he just cuddled her.
”You got stuck in a hole! Cool! I just ran into lots of trees” A big frown at that. He then pouted playfully at her teasing ”But my mum was extra mean when I did bad things!” he insisted.
Then she was talking about her mum passing away, but that hadn’t happened to him! His mum was still out there, somewhere. He just meowed gravely ”I’m sorry that you lost your mama”

VipernoseVipernose gave the kit a sympathetic look. It was one thing to take the memory of grass away from an adult like her, but to steal it from a kit? Really StarClan? she thought. Everyone knew that her faith in her ancestors was almost nonexistent, but sometimes she found herself talking to them through her thoughts for no reason. The tabby wondered if it was because she believed her mother and sister were up there somewhere, she just didn't know where...
As her amber gaze trailed back down to Otterkit, she realized she had rudely zoned out and was ignoring the tom. Vipernose fluffed out her fur, trying to cover it up. Another laugh tickled at her throat at the kit's words, and she tried her best to hold it back. "Well, I haven't been this rank for very long," she pointed out. "But there has been one moment so far that I wished the Warrior Code didn't require me to always listen to my leader." The deputy absently remembered when Fallenstar had kindly told her to shut her mouth, and she had nearly disobeyed. She listened to Otterkit stumble over his words, trying to not make it sound bad, and this time, she laughed under her breath. "Well, as I said, it hasn't been long, so I'm not entirely sure what it's like to be ignored by him, although I'm sure it'll happen at some point." Vipernose smiled. "And don't worry about saying Fallenstar does stuff wrong! You said if, not that. You're right... No cat is perfect."
She listened carefully to what Otterkit was saying, and blinked away her tears, not wanting to overwhelm the tom with her emotions. "Yes, I'm sure she is. Especially after all I've been through, no one would've expected me to become the deputy. I was a little surprised myself."
She blinked in astonishment as he smacked into her side and snuggled into her fur. He radiated so much love and comfort that she almost cried. No one had ever showed such passion around her, especially someone she had only talked to twice. At that moment she knew that she could trust Otterkit with her life, even though he was merely a kit. Vipernose touched the top of her head to his and left it there, not wanting the moment to end. "Otterkit," she whispered. "I promise to treat you as my own until you find your mother. I promise to help you find her. I will search for her with you as if she was my own Mama." By the end of her small speech, she was crying quietly, and she tried to stop before Otterkit saw. She lifted her head from his and looked into his eyes, trying to show the tom that she was open to him, and always would be no matter what happened. He had her loyalty.
Vipernose wiped her eyes with her paw as she chuckled. "Holes, trees... Who cares when you're having fun?" she replied as she looked at him affectionately. "How else is your Mum supposed to keep you in line?"The molly giggled, her smile not fading as he apologized for her mother's passing. "It's not your fault she's gone. You don't need to say sorry." _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone Otterkit was slowly realising there was so much more to the world! So much more to the world then the nursery or Riverclan camp. He wanted to learn it all. He had a newly acquired thirst for knowledge, a thirst that demanded to be quenched. ”I don’t understand why we have to obey a code made moons and moons ago. Just because it’s tradition, doesn’t mean it’s right” The warrior code had just the right balance to keep cats in line and not testing it but that didn’t mean you couldn’t change a few. The would be his first choice if he ever became leader. Get the other leaders to come meet him so they could change the warrior code. Like be bamboozled, Starclan! The young tom was very faithful towards the starry cats, as most kits were. He believed that Starclan would lead him to his mother and before Starclan did that, he’d just have to be the best boy. He was relieved when she wasn’t mad about almost calling Fallenstar out, she understood… Of course, she did! He was insightful, that was why she had asked his opinion on being a deputy, of course she wouldn’t be made at him. ”You seem fine to me” he sounded confused when she said ‘after all I’ve been through’ but he guessed it was loosing her mama. Definitely heart-breaking. ”Well I believe in you, Viper! You have my support, I think your going to be one of the best deputies Shadowclan could ever ask for” As her head pressed against his, his small body vibrated with a fierce purr, listening to what she was saying with intense concentration. ”I think my mama would be glad to have you looking after me.. and I’m glad as well!” When she promised to help look for his own mum he felt something warm blossom in his chest ”Thank you, thank you, thank you” He breathed the words out in relief. Finally, someone who believed that she could be out there, that she wasn’t… that she hadn’t passed away.
As her eyes peered into his he leaned forward, his leather nose brushing against hers ”I’m here for you Viper, I’ll do everything I can to help you!” She had very good points! Maybe one day he would be as wise as her. He thought she was amazing, that he was lucky to know her. He didn’t understand why cats didn’t want someone so nice as a deputy, everything he had seen from her had been kind.
”You have me now, Viper, I’m no mama, but I’m me” and he peered up at her, eyes wide, lips spread into a grin. She had him, he had her.

VipernoseHer amber eyes widened; she had never thought of the Code that way before. Otterkit was right again, and Vipernose wasn't too surprised. "You know," she said thoughtfully. "I really like listening to your thoughts. I love the way you think... You're a kit and yet you sound like a senior warrior. And I'm not saying that just to make you feel good. I'm saying it because it's true." The tabby had noting but genuine awe and approval in her tone.
Vipernose chuckled, her eyes lighting up. "Yes, I may seem fine to you," She raised a brow. "But if you were to ask any other cat who has talked to me before, they would think differently. When you're older, I'll tell you my full history. I don't think it's too appropriate for you at your current age." Vipernose laughed again, knowing that lots of other cats thought she wasn't mentally stable.
She smiled wide at the tom, loving every word he said. "You have a good heart, Otterkit. Never lose it." It was true. If he stuck to the personality he had now, she had no doubt that he would become a leader one day. He would be a good one too, maybe one of the best the clans have ever had.
She purred nearly in sync with Otterkit, and she like the soft vibrating feeling. "And I'm glad to be doing it." Vipernose knew that there was a fifty/fifty chance that his mother had passed away out in the cold, especially if she was a RiverClan cat. Seeing that the sleek swimming cats had all died out along with ThunderClan, Otterkit might as well be the last RiverClan cat alive. But she could never tell Otterkit that. "Of course," she murmured in his ear.
The cold suddenly disappeared as his nose touched hers. Her body was covered in warmth, and if there hadn't been snow lying everywhere, she would've thought it was greenleaf. "Thank you," she breathed. "You don't know how much that means to me."
Vipernose knew that she was growing very, very fond of Otterkit. But who wouldn't? He was a sweet, little, innocent kit with a big heart. He had no intention of ever hurting a single fly. So when he said that he was there for her, she believed him. "You may not be my mother, but you are one of the greatest friends I've ever had." She meant every word. She had talked to a lot of cats, but very few of them had stayed on her good side.
When Vipernose thought about it, she was actually pretty lonely. The only cats she had were her mate, her kit, her leader, and now Otterkit. She knew she should be happy with what she has, but she can never get rid of the envy she feels for the cats who are best friends with practically the whole clan. Otterkit had made her see differently, though. Vipernose didn't need the whole clan when she could have one cat who trusted her... One cat that saw her for who she really was. Just one cat that could make her happier than a whole group of cats could. She had four of those cats, and that was more than she could ever ask for. And that realization was all thanks to Otterkit. _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone At heart, the tabby tom would always be a Riverclan. Always yearn to be in the water, slipping through the water like silk, listening to the lazy cries of the birds as they circled the water. Some part deep inside of him would always keep him tethered to his old clan, always shoving him in the direction to go home. He may not realize that now, or any time soon, but eventually that shove would turn into a nudge. Because he was happy because he was looking up at the deputy and seeing good. Seeing someone who promised him everything a kit deserved: a safe place to play, plenty of prey. More importantly a mother.
So even if he didn’t understand the full depth of the thrumming beneath his chest he knew with certainty that he could trust her like she was his real mumma, that his real mum would approve at his newfound friendship. ”Oh gosh, hopefully I don’t sound tooooooo olddddddd!” drawing the words out with a small giggle ”I’m just saying what’s right in front of all cats nose. Guess I’m just young enough to see it and just old enough to understand it. Butttt by the sounds of I, I’ll be an elder by the time I reach warrior-hood” despite the light words, the pure innocence in his eyes… he sounded proud of himself, and happy that she thought so highly of him.
It meant a lot, he had tried so hard to impress her, and it had worked! Then his eyes brightened up ”On the journey you should tell me some of your childhood! Not all the bad stuff, but some of the good stuff. I honestly don’t feel like hearing the bad stuff right now, but it never hurts to look back on what makes you feel happy” those words were more to himself than her. To the memories that were like gentle breezes in his head. Tickling his minds with snippets of sparkling water, before the storm had hit. Oh how much he wanted to block out this horrible snow! It affected him mentally more than physically and he missed the closest he had had to normality in Riverclan. Peeking at Vipernose through his lashes, he wondered if she would be what brought him that peace.
”I wonder where all the Riverclan cats went” He whispered quietly as if voicing her thoughts, but in the opposite way. He wasn’t young enough to be blind to the stiff, lifeless bodies that had been piled up just outside of camp. Too many dead and little strength to bury them.
He hardly remembered the terrifying night he had fled Riverclan, but there had been cats. Not a lot, but some. Had they been trapped in camp, as the storm raged on that night? Or had they escaped? His wishful thinking made him hoping the latter, hoping they’d found a nice warm twoleg barn, full of fat, rich mice. ”I-if the Riverclan cats did survive, would they follow us?” he had to ask, had to know.
He couldn’t help but giggle again, at her. Not in a mean way, but in a confused sort of way. He didn’t comprehend why she thought so little of herself, why she thought so highly of him… Not at all, but he understood the need for a friend. So a friend he’d be. ”We will have lots of fun, Viper” he couldn’t help the excitement in those words.
”Welllll If I’m one of your greatest friends, your one of mine… and as one of my greatest friends, I need your help” Orange eyes wide as he peered up at her.

VipernoseThe admiration and trusting glint in Otterkit's eyes as he looked up at Vipernose made her feel important and loved. She only ever felt like that around her family. She loved it.
She giggled with him at his words. Even though he was wise for his age, there was a hidden kit in his heart. Vipernose liked how balanced the tom's personality was, how at peace with himself he seemed to be. He cared about everyone else's problems, and he barely had any of his own. He put everyone else before himself, and the deputy loved to see that in him so young. Otterkit was the definition of pure, and you never saw that in cats anymore.
The tabby smiled down at the kitten, trying to think of a good memory to tell him. There weren't many, but the ones she did have were like gold. "Well, I can tell you one memory right now..." she suggested. "I was three moons old and it was the beginning of newleaf. My mother and I were chasing a butterfly. It landed on a nearby flower, and I began to stalk it like prey. That was when I learned how to hunt. My mother taught me how to crouch and pounce, but when I landed on the butterfly and lifted my paw to see it, it flew away. Right under my nose." She laughed. "I see now how silly it was, but then I was so mad at myself. Mother told me that it was just a foolish insect, and my first mouse wouldn't be able to fly away." Vipernose had more good memories with her mother than with anyone else, and she hoped more than anything that she would never forget a single one.
Her smile disappeared at his thought, though. If there were survivors, where had they gone? The molly's brows knit together in thought. "I... I'm not sure, actually." she murmured. She didn't want to tell him that they could all be dead. Maybe he already knew that possibility, but she couldn't break his heart if he didn't. "But if they could find us, I'm sure they'd follow us to a better home."
The darkened mood was suddenly replaced with more giggling from Otterkit, and Vipernose enjoyed how well the tom could change the subject. "Oh, I'm very sure we will." she responded, happiness in her voice.
Her tail flicked at his questioning for help. What could he need? "You need my help, hmm?" Vipernose angled her ears toward Otterkit. "I'm all ears." _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone Oooo! A story! The young tom’s tail started thumping against the ground with excitement. He lowered his body into the cold snow. Despite the fact it made him shiver he liked how it soothed his sore limbs (even if he hadn’t been walking much) and he rested his head on his paws, tilting his chin up to gaze at her with wonder.
He listened with complete and utter interest, his tail thumping stopping. ”It flew away?! That’s so unlucky” he let out a gasp. The tom shook his head ”I would have, like, um- I would have been mad as well!” He shook his head ”Not just at me but also the butterfly! Shouldn’t it know when it’s dead??” he continued to fling his head back and forth, making a ‘tsk’ sound.
”Maybe you could teach me to crouch and pounce? I know some, but I’ve never been properly taught” His voice was full of hope as he peered up at her through his lashes, oh he wanted her to say yes so bad! He’d understand if she said no, she was deputy, but… he really wanted her to say yes. Some selfish, yet completely understandable, part of his heart was screaming for her attention, her awe at his awesome hunting skills.
”Please? I know your busy a lot but maybe just one lesson?” he added on in a small voice.
Otterkit nodded at her sensible words ”Even if my mama doesn’t follow us, I hope she finds another good life” sadness was laced through his voice. What if she got a new son? Would she miss him or just replace him? Hopefully she wanted to find him just as badly as he wanted to find her.
He then jumped to his paws, snow spraying everywhere as he stalked back and forth in concentration ”I have a friend, right. Her mama’s blind and her father l-left her and I don’t know how I can help her… My daddy left me when I was still blind so I don’t understand how she’s feeling… but she seems so sad” he sighed, looking at Viper ”What should I say?”

VipernoseVipernose watched as his tail shook and stopped like a dog. She smiled. "I'm not a cat known for luck," she muttered and looked down, remembering all her unlucky times in life. They were all horrible. "Butterflies are strange creatures, aren't they?"
The tabby looked down at him as he asked her so very nicely to teach him how to hunt, and her eyes softened. "Of course I can! This journey isn't very busy for me, anyway." She stood up, getting ready to show him, but she stopped.
"Your mother will never give up on you," she said. "She'll never stop looking for you. I promise." Vipernose knew that even the mothers who seemed to not care about a thing in the world would go after their kit if he ever went missing.
She listened to his story about his friend intently, finding that she could partly relate to it. The deputy's father was a loner that she had never met, and her mother had been taken from her. Otterkit's friend's mother had been taken from her in a way, too. "I know how she feels," Vipernose said after thinking for awhile. "You can tell her that even though she feels like everything is being taken away from her and she's sad all the time, she should be thankful for what she has. If she only sees the negative side of it all, she's just going to get sadder and more detached from everyone. Tell her to think on the positive side of things." The molly said all of this from her own experience. She had not been thankful and had not been positive at all, and look where that had gotten her. She was lonely, depressed, and unhappy with lots of things in her life. Vipernose had many regrets that she could never go back and change. This friend of the tom's could lead a better life than the deputy's if she was grateful for what she has, and thought about all the cats who had absolutely nothing from the beginning of their lives.
She blinked, realizing that she had zoned out and her eyes had clouded over. "Anyway, how about that lesson?" Vipernose let a small smile onto her lips as she looked down at him. _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone Otterkit nodded ”Butterflies are strange but pretty! My favourite is bees… once I pounced on something I thought was a bee it turned out to be this thing called a hornet” his nose crinkled slightly ”It stung my paw and it was swollen for a whole week” he sighed heavily, raising a paw. As he squinted at the dark brown leathery skin, a tiny silver scar barely visible. It had been quite gruesome for a sting, as he had been very much allergic.
”I wonder what the territories will be like” he murmured quietly. Would a new Riverclan arise? Would different clans come back? Would he stay with Shadowclan or join the water-based clan- if there were one? He didn’t know. He was happy in Shadowclan for now.
A small smile was placed upon his soft lips, tongue poking out slightly. ”I believe you Vipernose, I believe that she wont give up on me” even, even if the worst had happened to his beloved mama he knew she would never stop watching over him.
Otterkit listened intently to what the deputy told him, she was so smart! ”I will make sure to tell her that” He had enough sense to understand she was speaking from a similar experience but he didn’t push her boundaries, instead he simply whispered what she had said to remember it. She then started gazing into the distance and he raised a paw to wave it in the air. Was she okay?
When she suddenly blink he’d been studying her face so hard he nearly fell backwards in shock. She was back in the real world! And what she next said made him let out a yip ”Right now, like right now?” he was on his paws in a second, jumping up and down with excitement. Time to show her his moves!

VipernoseThe she-cat wrinkled her nose at his short story. Stung by a hornet? That didn't sound too pleasant. Vipernose had never been stung by anything, so she couldn't say she knew what it felt like, but she had pretty good idea. "A hornet, hmm?" she questioned. "I hope it didn't hurt for too long." A week was a very long time to go through pain, especially when the pain was in your paw.
Her ears pricked slightly at his question. Nobody knew for sure what it would be like, and Vipernose wasn't even sure if Mushroomstar and Fallenstar knew where they were going. "Well we can never know for sure... I suppose we'll find out when we get there. And hopefully that will be soon!" The deputy wasn't too fond of walking for days on end, and she could guess that Otterkit was worse off than he was with his smaller legs.
The molly smiled affectionately at the kit, watching as he tried to memorize her words. She could tell he wanted to ask her more questions about herself, but the words never came out of his mouth. He just sat there and whispered what she had told him over and over, and Vipernose couldn't help but think that it was just the think Otterkit would do. He was thoughtful and kind, unlike most kits who were nosy and reckless.
As she listened to his excited question and frantic movements, she didn't let it slip her mind that he had almost fallen over in surprise when she had come back to reality. What had he been doing that he hadn't been paying attention? Telling herself that she'd come back to it later, she shifted her weight from paw to paw, eager to see what he could do. "Why would I say I would teach you right now and get you all riled up, and then up and quit? That's no fun!"
She laughed loudly, remembering all the times it had happened to her. Maybe it wasn't to show off her skills, but there had been other things that cats had tricked her over... Other things that she had been used for. Cats had seen her as vulnerable after her mother died, and they told Vipernose that they would take her to her if they did them one little favor. Once she had realized what was going on, she still had never seen her mother again. _____________________________________________
