It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life And I’m feelin’ Good... A pink nose absentmindedly sniffed the cold, damp ground. All the snow had melted, and the effects were now setting in. The streams and rivers were almost overflowing, and everywhere the rogue stepped was wet and muddy. He would take mud over snow any day, but after the ground being in that condition for so long, it was getting kind of annoying.
Ash looked around, wishing that he had asked Owlscreech to join ShadowClan as soon as they had arrived at the camp. Instead, the tom had decided to hold back his request and wait for the clan to settle down. Now the feline admitted to himself that he was afraid to ask the tan tabby leader to join, and he was doing everything he could to keep stalling.
He realized that he was more lonely than he had been in the city, and he wished he had made some friends along the journey. If he could, he would go to the camp and stay there, but he couldn't risk getting attacked and sent away. He would talk to Owlscreech soon, but for now, he wanted to scout out the territory and figure out where the boundaries were.
The rogue had no idea what he was doing, for all he knew, he was 'making progress'. If a warrior saw him, they would laugh and say he was just walking in circles. But no warriors were around to laugh at Ash, and he couldn't care less what they had to say. He wasn't officially a member of ShadowClan yet, therefore they had no authority to tell him what to do.
Besides, he was Ash... The tom who was getting over his need for females. The tom who was trying to figure out how to join ShadowClan. The tom who had no friends and didn't know how to make any.
Who would want to talk to him? 315 words ✿ EDEL ✿

` ♚ B L U E B E L L ♚ words . tags ♚Everyone had been getting on Bluebell’s nerves - and Bluebell was getting on everyone else's nerves. It wasn’t her fault she was overdue and needed to expel her kits from her body. Despite the fact she should definitely be in camp at this time in her pregnancy, she just couldn’t take another second inside the camp. The only time she had left the boundaries of camp was to go to the stupid fucking ritual, which just pissed her off every time she thought about it. ’bluebell be good, bluebell be polite' At least when she had been rude she had been truthful. She would not judge her brother for his leadership choices but if he choose to be as fake and sly as Radio, Bluebell might as well join The Towers.
Bluebell was basically a ticking time-bomb that could go off at any second. She was emotional and angry and everyone should stay clear. If they can. Now it wasn’t like she was about to pin someone down and yell in their face, she was just extra sensitive.
In all fairness she hadn’t gone into the marshes to find her next victim but when she saw the grey tom she was intrigued. He was just wandering around in a seemingly aimless pattern… Yet it looked like he was trying to walk in a specific direction...? Honestly, she couldn’t tell what he was trying to do. So why not go find out? Bluebell waddling over to him, making no attempt to be quiet as she came up behind him. ”Whatchya doing?” Her voice was pleasant - too pleasant. If he wasn’t a complete dimwit, he’d realise that ‘whatchya doing’ was more like ‘give me three reason not to beat you up’ then again he could be a bit full of himself. It wasn’t like he was in any danger anyway, Bluebell could barely walk let alone do anything to him.
She really didn’t care that he was on Shadowclan territory, was it her business on what he was doing in the swamps? No. Did she want to know what he was doing in this mucky, miry terrain? Bingo.
So Bluebell looked at him with her one cobalt eye and waited.

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life And I’m feelin’ Good... He was so deep in his search for who-knows-what that he barely heard the she-cat coming up behind him. As he heard her voice, though, he whipped around, his claws unsheathing. He backed up, his body tense. She sounded nice, but he could detect a hint of hostility in her voice as well. "Who are you?" he asked, an uncertain look in his green eyes. He realized that she was very pregnant... which meant that she couldn't harm him with very much success.
She seemed to really want to know what he was doing, and he found no problem with telling her. Ash didn't consider the fact that there could be other cats with her, or she was going to tell someone that he was snooping around, or that almost anything bad could happen if he told her anything.
"I'm looking for... I mean, I'm searching..." he trailed off, finally deciding to be honest with himself. "I have no idea what I'm doing. I want to join ShadowClan, but I just- I- Oh god..." The tom shook his head, a defeated expression on his face. "Please help me! I've never done this before. I didn't follow you cats thinking that I would join! I only tagged along for some fun. And now that we're here, I don't want to go back. Your group has changed me. I can't go back to that city."
The rouge did not care that he was blabbering. This she-cat didn't look like the compassionate, pitying type, but he had to try. He didn't know why he was suddenly begging for her help, or what made him completely lose his cool with her when they didn't even know each other. All he knew was that he wouldn't survive out here on his own, and he needed help. Badly. 302 words ✿ EDEL ✿

Bluebell was instantly irritated, her scarred lip curling in obvious annoyance. Who answers a question with a question? Luckily for him she didn’t feel the need to chew through him then spit him out. Sharp words could hurt just as much as any physical blow. Bluebell, you could say i’m part of the dynasty at Shadowclan”her voice was lilting, laced with a satin that didn’t match her beaten up appearance. Hormones seemed to be turning her into the young, immature Bluepaw that bragged about everything, even to every breath she took. Or that could just be how Bluebell’s lack of conquering manifesting in her. She loved and supported Owlscreech’s leadership 100%, but she was built to lead. Everything in her body, right down to the yarrow in her bones, knew she was meant for leading and not bowing. She may not have had a more peaceful reign that Owlscreech could give the clan but she had the strong mind and physical abilities - when she was a couple pounds lighter - to secure them everything. How easy it would be to wrap this distraught tom around her blue paws, make him into her warrior, not Owlscreech’s. It was way too easy, but still she resisted. Her love for Owlscreech much greater then her ambition.
This pretty little tom was so amusing, though! His frantic pleas brought peals of laughter to her lips, kitty-brows arching above her eyes - both good and bad. She really wasn’t trying to be cruel but he was just so funny. ”stop your blubbering, your going to make me pop right here” Although Bluebell’s words had a teasing light to it, underneath it was a simple command. Perhaps a bit of a test? Even if Shadowclan needed more warriors she wasn’t going to let a tom strut into camp and talk to her brother unless there was some form of ability. ”Well my dearest brother has been accepting most riff raff into the clan, so you really don’t need to worry much. As long as you have some form of hunting and or fighting skills you have little chance of being denied a place. “
A smile, with perhaps a tint of mockery, twisted onto her face. [/b]”Although I couldn’t have a handsome man like you booted into the apprentice den, could I? Tell me your skills are actually up to date. If not I’m sure retrieving the rebellious, heavily pregnant sister of the leader from the marshes will get you some brownie points”[/b]
Secretly Bluebell was rooting for the tom. He didn’t seem like a complete asshole and for some reason she wasn’t being completely rude to him. It also couldn’t hurt to add onto the dwindling pile of suitors, right?

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life And I’m feelin’ Good... Ash immediately sensed her annoyance, and he knew he had screwed up. As she said her name though, he realized that she wasn't going to snap at him. He paused and turned her words over and over in his head. Bluebell. It was really a beautiful name, and he couldn't stop himself from forming the extraordinary word on his lips. "Bluebell," he accidentally blurted, then bit his tongue hard. He held back a yelp, not wanting to disappoint the lady standing before him.
Something in her voice drew him to her, and he took a single step toward her. He wanted to go farther but didn't, fearing he'd face a terrifying consequence. She seemed to stop and wait for something from him, and that was when he realized he hadn't introduced himself. "Oh! Um, I'm Ash," he said, then mentally kicked himself. He sounded so desperate and vulnerable. Why was he acting like this? What happened to the Ash all the females in the city knew?
He jumped as she started laughing, as it was the very last thing he expected from her. He found no humor in this situation... What was going through her head? He didn't know being pregnant could make you delusional. But then maybe she heard something that he thought was serious and she thought was just plain stupid.
He obeyed her command, feeling the need to please her. Something was different about her. Ash had never met a pregnant molly before, but he didn't think they would be like this. He expected the same as normal she-cats, just a little more moody.
"I've talked with Owlscreech before. Before he was leader. After that I distanced myself from your group and now here I am." The rogue smirked nervously. If all the ladies in the clans were like Bluebell, he would have a very hard time keeping himself contained.
And then she was smiling, and as she questioned his abilities, his heart sank into his paws. He knew the basics of fighting. The only way he knew how to look for food was from trash cans. He had survived the journey by stealing the leftover scraps from the clans each night when everyone was asleep. He couldn't admit all that to Bluebell. She wouldn't see any potential in him anymore. He would be a useless kitten in her eyes. If there was one thing Ash had learned from his time with the females in the city, it was that they loved a man with skills.
"Well, I've lived alone and kept myself alive for eighteen moons. I'd say I'm average if not above." Stupid, stupid, stupid. You stupid idiot, his mind screamed at him. Why would you say you're only average? You have no chance now.
The gray tom studied her reaction, hoping that if she saw no potential in him, she would at least let him participate in her retrieving and delivering plan. She seemed to be searching for something in him, by the way she was staring at him. Ash bounced back and forth on his paws, trying to make the movement unnoticeable. Something was different about this molly, and he needed to find out what it was. 534 words ✿ EDEL ✿

` ♚ B L U E B E L L ♚ words . tags ♚When the tom repeated her name, she felt a tad uncomfortable. A blush tinged her skin under the thick blue fur and it took all her control to stop herself from smoothing her fluffy fur down. She shook her head - as if trying to shake the strange feelings from her mind - and looked at him with a frown. There really was no reason for her to be acting so strange. Sure, he was dashing but Bluebell wasn’t the type of molly to like someone purely on looks.Plus she was pregnant and fat, he wouldn’t even be interested in her.
Then she realised her good blue eye had been staring into his green ones and she jerked back a step with a muttered curse. Then in a frantic rush she racked her brain, trying to remember what he said his name was. ”Ash, hot name” Bluebell meowed bluntly, surprising herself at what came was leaving her mouth. Determined to brush off her strange behaviour she shrugged in his direction, tacking onto the quite random words. ”Most rogues have fucking horrible names, yours isn’t. I’m sure Owlscreech will pick a good name for you, though”
”My brother can be a bit of an asshole, but i’m sure you two got along. You don’t seem dim-witted” Bluebell then promptly sat down, giving her aching paws a rest from the weight they had been carrying. ”18 Moons?” she questioned, raising a kittybrow. She had just managed to keep the extra words from coming out. 3 moons younger than me. Oh gods, she really did have a problem. His words impressed her very little - but then again nothing really did. ”So what your trying to tell me is that you’ve lived on your own but had no training? You’ve probably got shit fighting skills, perhaps dismal at best? The scars you have are cute, I guess, but not much to brag about” Many cats found scars to be something ugly but Bluebell was proud with the scars littered over her body. ”I’m tempted to say you can hunt but from what I can tell you rogues like to eat human trash” Despite her strange attraction to this tom, she treated him like no other. Her words were hard, matter of fact and rather rude.
However Bluebell made up for it in what she said next, or atleast she thought she did. ”Oh well, just more work for me. We can go along with the same plan and I can make sure you get a warrior rank. I’ll just train you, I guess” Bluebell never guessed about anything, she was always confident in the decisions she made. Around this tom she was not and she couldn’t tell if she was getting more and more pissed off, or curious.

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life And I’m feelin’ Good... He looked down the second a light red tinged her cheeks, feeling embarrassed. As he brought his green eyes back up to meet hers one blue one, though, it was looking away. She looked frustrated, and Ash didn't know what to do or say anymore. He pursed his lips in thought, only to be caught off guard by her next comment. Hot name? he thought. What's that supposed to mean? Words like that never really fazed him; he was used to hearing them in the city from the cats he talked to. But for some reason he couldn't name, he cast his gaze sideways and flushed a very noticeable burgundy. She likes my name, a stupid voice in his head whispered.
She-cats had never managed to fluster the rogue back home, and as much as he didn't want to admit it, this place was nothing like home. Back there, he had been a player. He wanted to change for ShadowClan, and something told him that Bluebell could help him do that.
"Wait," he interceded. "I have to change my name?" His eyes widened in what seemed like panic. But she likes my name! he frantically told himself. I can't change it! He didn't want to change his name... He liked his name. It was the only thing he had full ownership of back in the city. The only thing that he could call his. He couldn't give it up.
He sucked in a breath before moving on to the next point of the conversation, a sad look clouding his eyes. "Well," he began, trying to hide the darkened tone trying to take over his voice. "We didn't get along at first, but now we're on pretty okay terms, I guess." He shook his head, a frown creeping onto his muzzle.
He internally cursed as she questioned his age with a surprised look. She must be older than him... And not by just a day or two. More like multiple moons. His ears flattened against his head; he had no chance now. Bluebell had clearly shown that the age difference was too much for her.
And then she was insulting him, her words sharp. He knew they were all true. He was quite ashamed of it, to say the least. He only nodded, openly confessing that he had lied. He had just wanted to attempt to impress her! Was that too much to ask?
The blue female's voice was cold and serious, but somehow she made her offer sound desirable. "No, you don't have to," he said quickly, making sure she wasn't doing it out of pity. "I'm not saying you're incapable in you condition, but I don't want you to hurt yourself..." Ash looked into her blue eye, genuine concern on his face. What he said was completely honest. If she hurt herself or her kits for him, he would never be able to forgive himself. 486 words ✿ EDEL ✿

` ♚ B L U E B E L L ♚ words . tags ♚Bluebell tried to burn the sight of the blush from Ash’s cheeks, the feeling to rip her eyeball out strong. Being around Ash reminded her of the flirty, giggling Bluebell that came out around Fennelweb. Even just the thought of the white tom made her feel dizzy and off balance. The molly had always been bi-sexual but falling for toms always took a toll on her. It was so hard to keep her thoughts friendly around this tom, her mind begging to be lead into a more romantic path. His panic about changing his name amused her a bit more, although she had to fight to keep the disinterested look on her face.
”Owlscreech was a rogue, he changed his name. All rogues have changed their names and you’ll be expected to do the same” she simply stated the facts. I mean, sure there had been some rogues to keep their names before in Shadowclan but… It was cute watching him squirm. Oh fuck, she really was turning tom-crazy. First Maxie, with his charming smile and fuck-boy attitude and now this stranger. Since when had she turned a sucker for cute guys and a flustered attitude?
The sad vibe that was coming from his green eyes crushed her too. She was probably one of the most unempathetic cats in Shadowclan and yet her heart crumbled at his utter anguish at changing his name. ”That’s good, Owlscreech can get pissed off easily but when he likes you, It’s for a good reason” She meowed in a hurried voice, trying to get past the lump in her throat. Despite Ash being the cause of that lump, he also seemed to be the remedy. The real concern in his eyes was enough to make her chuckle deeply.
”Oh I could give birth right now, I’m so overdue. I’m in no fit state to teach you now, but I’m sure in a moon or two I could help. Before that I can also give you advice, as well” She swatted his shoulder with her fluffy tail. ”Your concern is cute, though” she then brushed past him on slightly wobbly legs. ”Now I’m getting tired, let’s get back to camp. My family is probably going to throw a fit, as well”

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life And I’m feelin’ Good... She seemed at conflict with herself, but he couldn't figure out why. She also looked bored, which made Ash lower his tail just a little. He hadn't thought his "hunting" would be interrupted, let alone by someone who thoroughly confused him.
As she spoke about Owlscreech and name changing, his mood only dropped more. "What was Owlscreech's name before?" he asked, trying not to make it obvious that he didn't really care. He just wanted to make the conversation last longer.
She then looked sad, and he wondered what was wrong. He hadn't done anything wrong, had he? He had barely said anything! He would give anything to know what she was thinking in that moment. Anything to know what she had been thinking this whole time.
As she spoke about giving birth right then and there, Ash couldn't help but let the pink creep onto his muzzle. He sure hoped she didn't pop right now... He had no idea how to handle something like that. And it would just be painfully awkward for him, anyway.
He was taken aback at her light touch, and then dazed as she walked by. He had no idea what she had said, but he decided to turn around and follow her anyway. The tom thought he had heard words like 'cute' and 'camp', but he wasn't really paying attention. He was too busy thinking about how soft and warm her fur was. 239 words ✿ EDEL ✿
