SUGAR, SPICE, AND EVERYTHING NICE. THAT'S WHAT SHE WAS MADE OF.
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear... Heavily panting, the young molly raced down the slick city sidewalk, her delicate claws extended and scratching at the surface of the ice in a futile attempt to gain some traction. What in the Heavens had happened to her owner?! One day she was sleeping curled up at the foot of the elderly woman's bed and the next her humans own kitten had taken her away, only returning several days later to cage her up and abandon her in the middle of nowhere! Where was her nest? Where was Mary Ann?!Skittering down the street, Sugar Cube spotted a young tree sprouting on the corner of the road and launched herself at it. Scratching at its slender trunk, Sugar Cube fell not once, but twice before she was able to safely perch upon one of its branches, her scrawny frame the only reason the branch held under her. The pure white she-cat shivered violently as she attempted to coach herself down from her panic now that she was safely away from her assailants, even though she knew she couldn't stay holed up in this tree forever. The sun was already cresting the horizon and Sugar Cube had to get home!"But which way do I go?" Sugar Cube wondered aloud as she exhaled a shaky breath, her pale amber eyes sweeping the city before her. Even with an elevated sight, nothing around here looked familiar to her. She was very, very lost. Have some faith, Sugar Cube! the she-cat chided herself, putting on her bravest face as she delicately slid down the tree she had only recently taken shelter in. You won't ever get home if you just sit around and worry! Drawing in a deep breath, Sugar Cube glanced around her surroundings one last time before picking a random direction and started walking.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ☆ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sugar Cube had been walking for what felt like days, but she was certain it was only a couple of hours. By now, the sun had fully risen into the sky as morning settled over the city, causing the human activity to increase drastically. Sugar Cube had found herself dodging humans, cars, and even the dreaded dogs that pulled at their leashes when they spotted her. What's worse, the chemicals the human spread across the sidewalks to melt away snow and ice was causing her paw pads to become raw and irritated. In fact, a dull stinging had started in her pads about an hour ago and the longer she walked the worse the pain became. By now, Sugar Cube had reached a sea of trees. At first, she had been excited to see them, it had meant she was out of the thickest part of the city and possibly closer to her nest. Her human resided in a forested area and Sugar Cube had spent many early mornings watching the birds out the large bay windows. However, her excitement began to dwindle as the longer she walked, the thicker the forest around her became. Losing hope, Sugar Cube was about to turn back to head into the city when the strong scent of cats crossed her spotted nose. She flicked her ears, straining them forward in an attempt to catch any sound produced by the felines ahead of her. Maybe they could help her! Hope had flared anew in her heart at the very thought and, carefully, Sugar Cube pushed herself through the snow with renewed energy. She used her pink, speckled nose to guide her through the thick mass of trees while her tail flew high to keep the snow from clumping together in her long fur.Breeching the end of the trees, Sugar Cube felt her heart sink as she stared outward at the cats before her, her pale amber eyes widened as she took in the sheer number of them. This... this was unheard of! Who are these cats and why are there so many of them?! Sugar Cube felt frozen to the spot as she gazed at all of them, her eyes traveling down the line to see two young cats fighting, something that appeared to hold almost all of their attention as no one had spotted her yet. A shiver ran up her spine as her fur stood on end, her paws shaking slightly as she took a step back. If she turned and ran now, no one would see her... but... she still needed help. Taking a deep, steadying breath, Sugar Cube trotted forward, focusing on the closest cat to her. This she-cat had three legs and looked genuinely non-threatening, and what was even more important was that she was more excluded from the large group of cats. Approaching Twopaw from her left side, Sugar Cube cleared her throat nervously. "Um, hello! Sorry to bother you but... I'm lost and I don't know where I am! Do you think you could help me?" 750 words

- I'm falling so I'm taking my time on my ride - Twopaw was preoccupied with watching the fight go down. The she-cat couldn't pull her eyes away. No matter how much blood spewed into the air, she wouldn't take her gaze away. Her eyes were squinted and her nose was wrinkled in disgust. The two apprentices were tearing each other apart! It made her angry. The clans should be working together! Not fighting! A frown appeared on the molly's face.
Suddenly a cat is sneaking up onto her left side but she can't see it. Her left eye was nearly useless at this point. A voice made her jump 3 feet into the air and a small yelp came from the she-cat. As she landed not-so-gracefully on the floor, she whipped around and faced the she-cat. The fur along her spine was sticking straight up and her eyes were wide. Suddenly, the scent of kittypet washed over her face and she licked her chest in embarrassment.
"I'm sorry! You snuck up on my bad side." She admitted, her ears pinning to her head as she avoided her gaze. After collecting herself, Twopaw took a deep breath and finally looked up at the cat in front of her. A small smile was on her face, and her eyes were friendly.
"Yes, of course, I can help you! Where are you going? Anywhere in particular?" She mewed, tilting her rather small head to the side.

SUGAR, SPICE, AND EVERYTHING NICE. THAT'S WHAT SHE WAS MADE OF.
Sugar Cube wasn't sure what she expected from the cats she had come across. She hoped, prayed for friendliness when she finally built up the courage to speak to one, but truthfully she didn't know anything about these cats! She didn't know anything about the world either! She had only ever known her parents, her siblings, and the neighbors next door! She hadn't ever been beyond her garden!
Sugar Cube gave a small peep of surprise of her own as Twopaw visibly startled, instinctively taking a step back although not yet dashing for the nearest shelter. Sugar was normally a very calm and collected she-cat, but what house cat could suddenly be thrown into the middle of nowhere and not be skittish and afraid? Luckily, the colorful molly next to her seemed to calm at the sight of a delicate housecat, not one of those... scarred up rogues that she saw mingling with the group earlier.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I should have been more observant." She meowed softly, her pale amber eyes searching Twopaw's own to try and see if one was more glossy than the other to indicate a blindness. Shaking her head slightly, Sugar Cube offered a smile of her own. "Um... truthfully, I'm trying to go home. I've never been this far in the forest before, and I honestly don't have the slightest clue where I am... do you know which way the neighborhood is? It has the most beautiful rose gardens, you can't miss it!" 254 words

- all my love's wrapped in shades of red - Twopaw smiled at the she-cat and shook her head slightly. "No, no, no! It's fine, really. I'm fine." Then she felt insecure as she started to look into her eyes. Twopaw quickly glanced down at the ground. With a small sigh, she sat her rump on the ground and shivered. The molly didn't have much meat on her bones, and her fur wasn't very long, either.
Then the kittypet spoke again and she looked back up at her. Twopaw's shoulders dropped and she frowned slightly."Oh, right... I, uh..." Twopaw tried to find the right words. She wanted to tell her she didn't exactly know the city that well herself, either, but that would clearly imply that Twopaw would be no help. And Twopaw would love to be a big help!
"Here's the thing." She meowed nervously. "I'm not from the city, and I've never made it past the big tall buildings without getting scared." Why did I just tell her that? Shaking her head, she continued. "I've never seen a neighborhood... I'm really sorry! Oh, I feel so bad now. I don't know if I can help you get home! Do you know which way you came from?" Twopaw meowed apologetically. Now she was on her paws, looking around and following the paw prints in the snow. A frown was on her face. "I want to help you!" She meowed again, her eyes filled with determination. "And I won't stop until we get you home!" She flicked her tail and limped over to the she-cat, an excited smile on her face, her snaggletooth prominent. 264 words

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. That's what she was made of. Sugar Cube blinked at Twopaw with hopeful eyes as the she-cat began to speak to her, though it was easy to read the confusion the Clan cat was experiencing as she looked around, sorting through her inner monologue to try and figure out how she wanted to word her next sentence. Unfortunately, Sugar Cube couldn't help the defeated feeling that took over her when Twopaw admitted she didn't know where Sugar was trying to go. She couldn't blame the Windclanner for being lost, of course, Sugar Cube had been walking for several days now, and as far as she knew she could be walking in the wrong direction entirely!
Sugar Cube quickly cleared her body language of the sadness that plagued her, for she didn't want to be rude towards Twopaw. This stranger did seem to genuinely want to help her, but Sugar Cube knew how unlikely it was for her to actually make it back home to Mary Ann. She couldn't even answer the one question Twopaw required of her! The snow was falling so heavily now that only her most recent paw prints still remained behind her.
"I'm sorry! I wish I could answer your questions, but I truly don't know which direction I even started in! Back when I was still in the city I got rather turned around when a couple of stray dogs chased me away. Oh, it was so silly of me to just pick a direction to start walking in! I've probably gone the wrong way..." Sugar Cube shook her head in disappointment, her eyelids fluttering shut in order to keep any unwanted tears from spilling onto her cotton white cheeks.

- all my love's wrapped in shades of red - Twopaw blinked her bi-colored eyes at the she-cat. Her smile faded and she bit her lip with her snaggletooth. "Oh... Yeah, I can see how that could be a problem." She meowed, partly to herself. Twopaw noticed the worry in her pale amber eyes. Twopaw's heart fluttered in her chest and she quickly licked her forehead and meowed, "No, please don't cry! It's going to be okay! I promise that once the snow stops you and I will go into the city together to find your home! Okay?" She meowed. Her eyebrows were furrowed together as she licked a stray tear off her cheek. She wanted this cat to feel... not sad. She wanted her to feel safe!
"Hey, I promise it will all be okay. I'm Twopaw, by the way! And these cats-" She meowed, motioning her thin tail to the cats behind her, "they are Shadowclan and Windclan. We haven't seen each other in such a very long time. I can explain more about that later." She chuckled weakly. Twopaw was trying her hardest not to talk this poor girl's ear off.
"Would you like to rest? We could wait out this snow. I don't see it stopping anytime soon." She sighed, a little defeated. Shaking her head, she looked over at the city. Just down the road was an alley where the WIndclan cats had stayed. For most of her apprentice life, she had stayed there. But now that Shadowclan has come to the city, Windclan might have a chance of leaving and surviving! 257 words

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. That's what she was made of. Sugar Cube was a tad surprised by the affection Twopaw was showing her, but it wasn't entirely unwanted. While she was usually a very strong feline, at least in the emotional department, getting torn away from everything she'd ever known was rather jarring and truly made her appreciated the fact that she had found such a kind cat who wanted her to be happy. Every house cat has heard the tales of some unfortunate feline who had run into either a stray or one of the strange forest cats, and Sugar was just glad that whoever Twopaw was, she was kind. "Okay," Sugar Cube said with the small hint of a smile. It was hard not to cheer up when the cat in front of you was trying so hard to help. "I trust you."
"Twopaw?" Sugar Cube repeated with genuine curiosity, thinking over the name for a moment. "I've never heard a name so foreign before." Suddenly realizing she hadn't even introduced herself, Sugar Cube raised a paw to her maw as her eyes widened slightly. "Oh dear, where are my manners? Asking you for help and not even giving you a name! My name's Sugar Cube, but my friends usually just call me Sugar."
Pale amber eyes drifted to the cats behind Twopaw as she began to explain the beginnings of her heritage to her. The names Shadowclan and Windclan didn't mean anything to Sugar, but she found herself wanting to ask all sorts of questions. Twopaw said she didn't know much about the city, so did that mean...
Sugar nodded her head slowly at Twopaw's invitation to rest. Her paws were tired from the amount of walking she had been doing lately, but she found her gaze drifting towards the Clan cats again. "Um, Twopaw?" Sugar Cube meowed with a splash of nervousness in her tone. "Your group there... you guys don't come from the city, do you? Are you... one of those wild cats?" 328 words

- all my love's wrapped in shades of red - "Good. I'm glad you do!" She meowed with a hint of excitement. She chuckled as the kittypet tested her name on her tongue. "Yeah! The -paw is to signify I'm an apprentice and still training to be a warrior!" She meowed as she lifted her chin and stuck out her chest with pride. Then, the she-cat introduced herself, and now it was her time to be confused.
"Sugar... cube? What even is a sugar cube?" She snorted, a giggle in her meow. "I'll call you sugar." The she-cat looked over at her clan and suddenly felt really nervous. What would my clan think of me when they see me talking to a kittypet? She stopped herself. They clearly were too focused on the fighting to notice one small apprentice slipping away back into the city. Twopaw got in front of Sugar and flicked her tail, beckoning the she-cat to follow. She would lead her back to the alley Windclan stayed in.
Twopaw stopped in her tracks and flicked an ear. "Yeah?" She asked, turning her head to look at her. Twopaw blinked. "Yes, we're not from the city..." Twopaw was suddenly hesitant to talk to Sugar about this. Twopaw looked in the direction of the faraway mountains. Even with the snow expanding out as far as she could see, she knew the direction of the mountains. "We call ourselves Warriors. We are--Were.... a part of the four clans. Now there's only two of us." Her meow was filled with a deep sorrow. "I can't wait to see grass again. To run again. To feel the sun on my back and the wind in my face." A sigh fell from her mouth.
"I'm sorry, it's a touchy subject." She admitted lightly, blinking her glassy eyes. "Shall we...?" She meowed, an empty question as she turned around and continued to head back to the Alley.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. That's what she was made of. "I'm not sure, honestly," Sugar Cube responded to Twopaw's question with a soft smile. "My owner, Mary Ann, would always say I was just as sweet as the sugar cubes she put into her tea." As she spoke of the human she cared deeply for, Sugar Cube glanced down at her chest. She could just see the ID tag attached to her pink faux leather collar, the rose gold color of the fish-shaped tag glinting in the weak rays of the morning sun. With a fond smile, Sugar Cube followed quickly after Twopaw as she leads the way towards the city.
Sugar Cube walked in silence as Twopaw tried her best to explain all these new terms to the kittypet, though truthfully Sugar was feeling a little overwhelmed by it all. Apprentices and warriors, four different clans but only two were here? Why? None of it made any sense to the pure white she-cat and Sugar was hesitant to ask too many questions due to the regret she could hear in her new acquaintance's voice.
"I apologize, I didn't mean to upset you Twopaw." Sugar meowed as she walked beside Twopaw and dragged her fluffy tail across the Clan cats flank in an affectionate manner. "I only ask because- ... well. If I'm being honest with you, wild cats don't have the greatest reputation amongst house cats. You're very much shrouded in mystery to us, and the few stories we hear of you are usually masked in ruthless violence." Pale amber eyes focused on Twopaw's own for a moment, a sad look seeming to linger in her stare. "After meeting you though, I think those stories might have been misconstrued hearsay. You've been so kind to me."
Sugar Cube looked around her surroundings as the two felines walked together, desperately looking for something that seemed familiar to her. She'd never been in a big city before, and quite frankly it all appeared the same. Brick walls surrounded by more brick walls. Sugar Cube let out a sigh as she once again turned her attention to the brave cat in front of her. "Twopaw... the way you speak, you sound just as lost as I do, yet you still want to help me get home. What about your home? Surely your large group can't survive in this snow forever, and my goodness, you're so thin..." She wanted to learn more about Twopaw, about the mysterious wild cats she had heard rumors of. Were they as violent as the stories told and could Twopaw just be a rare gem? "You seem so out of place here darling." 434 words

- all my love's wrapped in shades of red - Twopaw shrugged, her eyes locked on the sidewalk as she made her way to the Alley. Twopaw was snapped from her thoughts as the she-cat caressed her side with her tail. Twopaw smiled lightly and looked over to the she-cat. The molly slowed down and made sure to be cautious on the icy sidewalk. Usually, she falls on this slippery surface, so she trod lightly and slower than normal.
As she she-cat spoke, she looked over at her and flicked an ear. A sigh fell from her mouth. "Yeah, that's understandable. I feel like the rogues spread rumors about us and tell their kittens terrible stories of 'the wild cats', as you said, just to scare them into not leaving the city. At least, that's what I was told before." She chuckled lightly. A smile was on her face as she nudged her shoulder with her head. Then she shook her head.
"No, what you've heard probably is right." Twopaw meowed, her tone serious. Now, Twopaw was blushing, her face growing hot. "Pfft! It's not that rare to find a nice cat in the clans. But thank you." She purred, her eyes focused on watching the traffic on the road. Flicking her head slightly to the right, she signaled to cross the street.
"Oh, m-my home?" She shivered as the wind picked up. "We were driven out when a plague spread across the land... So we've had to reside here in this wretched place. It's not even living- it's more just surviving than anything else." Twopaw meowed, her voice showing defeat. She frowned and took a side glance at Sugar as she stated how thin she was. Yeah, I am. My whole clan is thin and they look sicklier with each day... She thought to herself, shaking her head.
"It's because I am! I don't belong here! I belong in the moors, chasing the rabbits!" Twopaw meowed, her voice rising in frustration. "I want to leave so bad. I can't sit around and watch my friends and family just wither into nothingness. We've been here before this winter froze over the city. It wasn't that bad then. But now, the rogues are fighting us for food. It just... it isn't fair!" Her ears were pinned to her head and she realized she was shaking. "I-i'm sorry. I'm just..." She trailed off, looking away from Sugar cube. Twopaw picked up her pace as she spotted the Alley. It would be empty, luckily. Maybe she could finally get some sleep in.

sugar, spice, and everything nice. That's what she was made of.
Sugar Cubes eyes grew wide at Twopaw's outburst. She was angry, but Sugar had a feeling it wasn't directed at her, rather it was an outcry of the pain and injustice that was happening to Twopaw in her everyday life. It saddened Sugar Cube immensely to see the struggle manifest itself in the way Twopaw spoke, the way her whole body seemed to visibly tremble. Even in the short time she had spent with Twopaw, Sugar could tell that being a wildcat was a rough and unfair lifestyle. So, why did Twopaw choose to live this way? What were the rewards for such a difficult lifestyle?
"Don't apologize, darling," Sugar Cube practically whispered in Twopaw's ear, her tone heartfelt and sad. As she came up beside her friend, Sugar wrapped the tip of her tail around Twopaw's own and brushed her side against the other she-cats flank, walking beside her new acquaintance as they entered the alleyway and finally escaped the rough winds blowing from the east.
"Let's not talking about all the sad things," Sugar Cube announced as the she-cat ushered Twopaw in a beaten down cardboard box. "I want to hear about all the things that make you happy and give you hope." Settling down next to Twopaw, Sugar used her fluffy tail to further shield the Windclanner from the cold winds that tried to topple their shelter. "What do you love about Windclan? What makes you proud to live in the forest instead of with an owner who would keep you safe?" The kittypet stared at Twopaw with a curious expression, her lips turned upright in a faint but friendly smile. "Tell me what you hope to find in your new home." 285 words

- all my love's wrapped in shades of red - Twopaw felt her fur grow warmer as she curled the tip of her tail around hers. Morty would do this... She thought guiltily, her ears pinned back slightly. Then, she felt Sugar Cube's side press against hers and she felt her breath catch in her chest, and she quickly looked over at Sugar Cube with a curious glance. They turned into the alleyway and she felt sweet relief as the wind stopped batting at her face. She smiled as she passed Sugar and crawled into the box and moved to the back.
"Okay, yeah, that's a good idea. If you can't tell I'm really passionate about my clan." Twopaw smiled sweetly. "You really want me to get into this? I can talk for days!" She lifted a kitty brow and smirked. "I'll try to answer them as short as I can, I feel like I'm talking your ear off." She admitted quietly, shying away from her gaze. "Well, there is so much to love about Windclan. There is so much freedom and everyone here is so kind, unlike those Shadowclan losers. Hehe!" She giggled, sticking out her tongue. Now, with Sugar Cube, her playful side was showing.
"And what gives me hope is just the fact that we've survived this long. Shadowclan was telling us about how Riverclan and Thunderclan died off due to white cough." A long death with suffering all the way to the end. I couldn't imagine what was going through their heads when they knew they were just about to die... Suddenly, she was scared of her own thoughts and she let out a small groan and shook her head. Let's not think about that...
"I guess I just hope to find some good hills in the new territory. The windclan territory in our last place was so small! I wish its a little bit bigger... I'm just really excited to move out of the City! It's so terrible here and it stinks. In the last place, heather was everywhere and it smelled so sweet." She drooled just thinking about that sweet heather scent. "Would you leave the city if you could?" 356 words

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. That's what she was made of. "Oh, I can tell." Sugar Cube purred playfully at Twopaw's question, basking in the Windclanners bright smile and newfound happiness. Sugar had always been told she was good in sad situations, but it was in moments like this where she could believe it. Sugar Cube herself was a very emotional she-cat, sometimes allowing them to control her actions but ultimately understanding them and being able to help others understand their own. Being emotional truly had its pros and cons.
Sugar Cube listened with renewed interest as Twopaw described her homeland, her pale amber eyes sparkling while she smiled or nodded her head in a gesture that she was still listening and that Twopaw should continue speaking. The way Twopaw spoke of her home sparked something anew in Sugar, deep down where she never ventured. Sugar had always been the cat to return to her small, woodside cottage because it was safe and it's the place she had spent the majority of her kithood. But Twopaw, on the other hand, returned home because she genuinely cared for the moors and she couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Twopaw expressed so many emotions for her home that Sugar Cube had never even considered giving her own.
Sugar Cube blinked her eyes in mild surprise at Twopaw's sudden question. Bringing a paw up to her muzzle, Sugar looked off into the distance for a moment, watching the way the snow swirled in the air before falling to the bleak city sidewalk beyond. "Hmm," the young molly hummed to herself. "Honestly, I had never considered it. I grew up in a small home with my mother and siblings before I was given away to my owner, Mary Ann. She was a very kind old female who often spoiled me." Bringing her gaze back to Twopaw, Sugar Cube offered a sweet smile as it was now her turn to talk about her life.
"Shortly after I arrived home, Mary Ann became rather ill. She was often bound to one spot, and her only kitten would come and help her around. She would tend to her garden while I chased butterflies and other insects away from her beautiful flowers. Lately, though, Mary Ann was unable to get out of her nest. I would lay with her to keep her warm while she groomed me and told me stories of her own kithood." Unconsciously, Sugar Cube began to paw at the fish-shaped ID tag that dangled around her neck, her spotted paw pad resting against the cool metal. "One morning, Mary Ann didn't wake up with the sun like she usually did. She felt cold to the touch and looked very, very pale. I tried to wake her, but not even my loudest meow could rouse her. Soon, her kitten would return to the house. She took one look at the two of us before she left the room. She appeared rather upset, so I followed her to see if I could offer her any comfort, but... she just scooped me up and tossed me into a box." Sugarpaws tone dipped as her story continued, her expression becoming more somber as her story continued. Still, Sugar Cube put on her best smile for Twopaw.
"She loaded me into her metal box just as two strange men came into the nest and took away Mary Ann. Still unmoving, they put her into a giant box much like my own and took her away. Mary Anns kit, however, took me somewhere unknown and threw me into the cold. I... that's how I got lost. I walked for days before I found you." Shaking her head now, Sugar Cube wiped her eyes with the back of her paw to prevent more tears from falling. "Mary Ann wouldn't have gotten rid of me, she loved me. So I can only imagine.... that she's no longer here with me."
Taking a deep breath, Sugar exhaled a shaky sigh. "I don't think I have a home to return to any longer, Twopaw." Smiling sadly, Sugar Cube looked away for a moment. "I'm sorry, I know I said no more sad stories... but to answer your original question, perhaps leaving the city wouldn't be such a bad thing. The way you talk about your home, it gives me hope. Do you think... do you think I could ever fit in with wildcats?"

- all my love's wrapped in shades of red - Twopaw smiled at Sugar Cube, gazing into her pretty eyes. Twopaw strained her ears to listen to Sugar Cube over the loud, whistling wind. Her story started off really happy, but as it progressed, it just got sadder and sadder. A frown was on Twopaw's lips now, and she looked sadly at Sugar Cube and then at her paws. Not saying a word, she dug her front claws into the cardboard and picked at it. Tears came to the she-cat's eyes and she furrowed her eyebrows.
Wiping her nose and eyes, she looked up at Sugar Cube. She let her mouth open, but she didn't have any words prepared. Often, her friends would come to her for advice or simply just someone to listen to their problems. They didn't expect much from her because they knew she wasn't that good at advice. But she knew they cared about her and she cared about them, so she tried her hardest. But right now she was more at a loss for words than ever. What could she possibly say to this poor she-cat? She had just lost her owner, lost her home and couldn't find her way back? A simple 'it will be okay' wouldn't seem to suffice in this situation.
Before she could get a word in, she continued to talk and she felt relief wash over her. In all honesty, Twopaw hated tense situations. She hated feeling out of place and awkward, and she often put herself into situations like that.
"I don't know, do you think you can? I won't hesitate to introduce you to the clan. Of course, you have to really want it. You have to be in it for the long run, you know?" She smiled.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. That's what she was made of.
"I... I think so," Sugar Cube meowed honestly. "The way you described the love you had for your home, Twopaw, it's... inspiring." Despite that sadness that still danced in Sugars pale amber pools, a flicker of hope ignited in her chest. "When you speak of the moors you paint such a beautiful picture like the open hills are special to you personally and, no matter what happened, you'd always return to them. You want to be there, not because you know it to be safe and secure, but because you're proud to call the wilderness your home. I want to experience that, too."
Standing up, Sugar Cube took the few strides to walk out into the middle of the alleyway. The wind buffeted her short fur, causing the curls that draped from her tail to blow elegantly through the wind. "This place isn't my home any longer, and I don't want to stay here. I want to return to the forest, but... to finally cross over the fence and explore what's inside." Lowering her neck, Sugar Cube used her left paw to press the metal tag to the ground, slowly pulling her head back and allowing the faux leather strap to glide past her ears and slip entirely off her head. With a smile, Sugar Cube pressed her nose to the rose gold tag. "Thank you. Rest easy now, my dear."
