my life was black and grey | until i saw you |
Bluepaw had fallen into a state of depression. She couldn’t stop moving, she couldn’t even think. It was just one paw step after another, one agonizing inhale and an agonizing exhale. She had been so damn foolish to think she could ever get what she had with Nightpaw again. She was always second best for everyone, always the second go to.
Bluepaw could have understood why Maxie left her to go with his ‘brothers’ to help them find something to cure Leaf, if it was just her. But it wasn’t just her. It was also the kittens. She had been prepared to raise them with him but on her own? Even the thought of doing that broke any literate thought in her head to a thousand pieces.
She was aware of the world around her, the yowling only making her raise her head. Her dull eyes noted the fox on Maplepaw and the warriors rushing towards it. She simply lowered her head back, eyes training on the ground as she kept moving one paw in front of the other. The other cats were huddling together but Bluepaw kept pushing through, just trudging through the middle of the group.
Even with the foxes around, she couldn’t care enough to be afraid and she couldn’t stop walking. If she did stop walking she’d afraid she wouldn’t be able to start again.

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone Otterkit was a away from the group of cats, playing in the snow. He was practicing his hunting crouch; he wanted to impress Viper with it! He had rolled together a ball of snow beneath a tree and had currently trotted a few fox lengths away from it. He lowered down towards the ground, weight leaning forward and butt sticking out in an exaggerated movement.
He didn’t fall over, though, so he continued stalking forward with a smug grin. When he was close enough to actually be able to touch it he sprung into the air. Landing in it with an ‘oof’ he watched the snow fly into the air and then fall down around him. He was growing accustomed to always being semi-damp and even he couldn’t deny the beauty of snow. He just wished there was less of it.
Some bright orange was dashing towards Maplepaw and he watched with interest, too far away to see the blood. As other cats bounded towards the creature and Maplepaw he heard yowling. Where they playing a game? Could Otterkit play too?
He looked up at the tree he had made his ball of snow in front and a wicked cool idea crossed his mind. What if he tried to climb it!? He had never climbed a tree before and it was possibly the worse tree to climb. It was covered in ice and snow, slippery and deadly. The trunk was narrow and slender with short, dead branches that wouldn’t be able to hold his weight.
About halfway up the sapling was a branch that might hold his weight and he has his sights set on it. His small tail wriggled side to side as he flounced over, claws unsheathing and scrapping across the icy bark. If he dug his nails in really hard he could get a grip, but he’d have to be careful.
With his pink tongue poking out in concentration he started bear-hugging the tree, small but sharp kitten claws spearing their way through the icy layer and into the bark.

VipernoseThe tabby deputy glanced around the group, making sure everyone was still okay. From her spot in the middle, it was hard to tell, but everybody seemed to be fine. There were some cats that were being quite loud in the back, though. Her amber eyes trailed back to watching her daughter. She was minding her own business, but Vipernose had a strange feeling that something bad was about to happen.
And she was right.
The second she saw Hollowdusk leap at Mushroomstar at the front of the crowd, the molly was alert. She drew closer to the kit she was watching, but still gave her her space. Vipernose watched multiple cats run to the front to stop the bickering, so she decided she could lay off.
Then she saw Hollowdusk smell the air and go still. The tom turned and looked at some other cat in the crowd, and Vipernose turned to look behind her to see a fox creeping up behind Maplepaw, who was at the back. But before she could yell anything to the apprentice, the fox leaped at her and sunk it's teeth into Maplepaw's leg.
The gray she-cat's eyes widened and she was enveloped in fear. She had to get her kit guarded. Vipernose whipped around and sprinted to Sootkit, shoving her into the crowd of young cats that had been been surrounded by some other felines. "I need you to stay here for me," she yelled to the kitten over the noise of the fight. "Don't freak out and come looking for me, I'll be fine and you will be, too, if you stay in the circle with the others." She nuzzled Sootkit before turning tail and rounding up all the kits who hadn't made it to the group yet.
After telling the last kit to stay put, she realized Otterkit was missing. Where the hell was he? Vipernose's worried gaze traveled all around as she called for the tom, not finding him anywhere. She smelled the air, and caught his scent. She followed it, and then was completely horrified to find the kit in a tree. "Otterkit!" she yelled. "You can't be up there! It's not safe! You could fall, and there's a fox down here! You need to get to the other kits!" Seeing that the kit wouldn't get down anytime soon, Vipernose began to climb up the trunk, aware that this tree could never hold her weight no matter what she did. But below was a very thick layer of snow, and landing in it would be better than landing on the ground on any normal day in greenleaf. The molly slowly made her way to where Otterkit was, slipping and sliding and nearly falling multiple times as the tree struggled to hold her. When she reached Otterkit, she grabbed the scruff of his neck in her mouth and jumped, landing quite softly in the white powder.
She ran him to where Sootkit was in the small crowd of kittens, and dropped him by her daughter. "Stay here, Otterkit." she meowed, making sure he wouldn't follow her. The silver tabby raced to where the foxes were, not giving a damn about the possibility of herself getting hurt. She stopped and opened her jaw to smell the air, her ears flattening. "I think there's another one!" she shouted to no one in particular. She sniffed the air again. "There's two!"
Without seeing if any cat went to find the other one, Vipernose watched as a rogue jumped on the fox who had had Maplepaw, then get thrown off. The she-cat was distracting it, and the deputy knew what she had to do. She quickly made her way to Maplepaw, glancing at her leg. "Help is coming," she assured the apprentice. "Just hang in there." Vipernose nodded to Maplepaw, then turned and ran towards the fox, who was too busy watching as the female in front of it talked to him.
Instead of yowling and giving herself away, she slowed down to stalk the animal from behind, focusing on the sway of it's tail. A low growl crept to her lips, and she let the rage build up inside of her with each fluid pawstep. The snow made it hard to be quiet, but the deputy managed, and as she got close enough, the tabby bunched her muscles, and leaped at the fox. She unsheathed her claws in midair, making sure to sink them in deep as she landed on the red mammal's back. Making sure she hand a good grip, she snapped her teeth into its neck, not noticing if she drew blood or not.
Vipernose jumped off and rounded on it, finding herself at the back again. She had probably really pissed it off by now, but she wasn't getting much help from anyone else, so she couldn't take a break. She bit down hard on one of its back legs, her anger bubbling out into the strength of her jaws. "That was for Maplepaw," she snarled. "No one messes with us and walks away without a fight." _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

Attacking a small innocent cat in the back was only one part of the plan. The large red fox bit down with more force as it whipped it's head to the side. A female cat was running at him, and before he could move out of the way, she leaped and threw her paw at him. Blood spurted from the wound for a quick second and he yelped, limping backwards. He cowered close to the ground, listening to the garble of words she was hissing at him. Even though he didn't understand it, he knew the cat was taunting him.
The fox snickered quietly to itself as it watched everyone go into a panic. The fox was stalking towards the cat who was taunting him, Fern, its tail lashing behind him as it bared it's teeth. Before it could leap at Fern and stick it's teeth in their neck, another cat got on it's back and bit into his neck. It fell to the ground and took a moment to get up, but when it was back on it's paws again, the she-cat snagged it's hind paw like he did to Maplepaw. Now, the fox was seething with fury. Letting out a loud barking sound, it whipped around and slashed it's long black claws on Vipernose's cheek.
Quickly, he backed up and gazed at the two cats, gekkering loudly and baring it's teeth. It's large head whipped back and forth between the she-cats, deciding who to attack. Though he was weak from starvation, the hunger only drove him forward as he hurled his big body at the black tabby she-cat. It took it's jaws and clamped it on the scruff of her neck and yanked hard, its head whipping to the side to do more damage. When the cat was successfully knocked onto the ground, he dragged her through the snow, its tail flicking madly behind him. This was drawing even more attention to the attack at the back of the group. It was sure to make the cats go mad! Oh how he hoped to bring home something good. He hadn't ate in ages! And god, did that apprentice taste amazing...

I said hey look ma, I made it.
Owlpaw fucking knew this would happen.
Okay, so maybe he didn't know that it would be foxes that would attack them next, but he knew that something bad was bound to happen as soon as they dropped their guard. Several Shadowclanners had come up to him after his fight with Bluepaw and told him to just try and relax, to stop acting son on edge all the time because he needed to "rest" and "heal". Maybe now that they were quite literally being jumped by foxes, his clanmates would finally understand that they didn't have the luxury to relax anymore.
Owlpaw couldn't help but feel like he was partly at fault for Maplepaws continued bad luck, though, as he had turned his undivided attention to Mushroomstar and Hollowdusk when things began to kick off. Could anyone really blame him for showing interest in watching Windclans "leader" get his ass handed to him? It was obvious that he wanted to run this whole movement on his own even though Fallenstar was clearly the better candidate. The tabby tom got the impression that Mushroomstar just wanted to steal all the "glory" that came with saving the two Clans as if it would actually make his own clan respect him. It was laughable, really.
All at once, an unusual scent wafted into Owlpaws nostrils and he turned his head to gaze behind him, and that's when he saw it. A fucking bright red creature was sinking its teeth into Maplepaws leg, clumps of snow falling from its pelt to reveal the color underneath. A god damn fox. The Shadowclan apprentice almost couldn't believe his eyes. Nevertheless, Owlpaw was on his feet in an instant, claws drawn and one paw raised to deliver a strong smack across the offending foxes muzzle. The force of his attack should be enough to cause the fox to let go and, not even a few seconds later, a cat Owlpaw didn't recognize was snapping at the hind legs of the red canine. If that didn't divert its attention from Maplepaw, nothing would.
"Alright, time to go," Owlpaw said as he turned around and did a quick once-over of Maplepaw. "I'm in no condition to fight and I don't think you are either," Nudging Maplepaw with his nose, the tom was prepared to hoist her up entirely if she were to completely lock up again. "Hurry now, we can help the weaker she-cats over there protect the kittens." Gesturing with his head, Owlpaw shouldered Maplepaw to get her walking and lead the way to the cluster of she-cats he had previously mentioned.
As Owlpaw took his position on the outer circle of she-cats, claws drawn and gaze sharp, his eyes traveled over to the two Clan leaders. A fire burned in his belly as he noticed both toms just standing there, watching the cats around them fight. "What the fuck," Owlpaw immediately shouted over the noise around him. "Fallenfox- Mushroombelly," if anything were to catch their attention, it would be outright disrespect. Fallenstar would have to forgive him later. "Get your sorry asses into the fight! You bastards are supposed to be our leaders for god sake, start acting like it! You shouldn't need an apprentice to tell you to defend your own fucking clanmates! Now stop being a couple of useless cowards and get in there!" 558 words

There were distinct advantages to not diving head first into a fight, something the younger fox was always trying to tell his brother. While the lack of prey made them both desperate, it would always benefit them to make a proper plan before they struck.
Case in point, the youngest fox had skirted around the cats and got an accurate sense of their numbers. There was a certain group of felines who huddled together to protect their young, much like a mother fox with her own cubs, and they were unlikely to pose any threat to him or his brother if they didn't want to expose their kin. The only cats they'd have to worry about were the ones that were outright attacking them.
The eldest fox had successfully drawn their attention away from his position which allowed him the perfect opportunity to snag their first kill. A lone, spotted blue feline had singled herself out from the rest and painted the perfect target on her back. In a flash, the bright red canine had lept out from his hiding place within the snow-dusted bushes and bounded directly towards Bluepaw. The silly she-cat never even lifted her head to see him coming.
Snapping his jaws around Bluepaws midsection, the youngest fox hoisted Bluepaw into the air and tossed her roughly back down to the earth, a loud cackle escaping his throat to inform his brother of his course of action. Leaping over the tiny cat's body, the red fox clamped down on Bluepaws right hind leg and began to drag her backwards into the forest. He just needed Bluepaw to stay winded long enough that he could drag her into the underbrush and out of sight from the other cats. She was his kill, and the others would have to act fast if they wanted to get her back. 309 words

|| FALLENSTAR || || LEADER OF SHADOWCLAN || Do I look lonely? || W O R D S || 493 || Theme || || "Death of a Bachelor" || || P!ATD ||
Fallenstar had kept quiet for the most part ever since the group of felines had left the two leg barn but with the building noise caused by the bickering that was occurring between WindClan's claimed leader and Hollowdusk, a warrior within the orange and white tom's own clan, Fallenstar could no longer feel the need to stay quiet. These feline's needed to stay quiet. Who knew what could be sneaking around beyond the group. The ShadowClan leader shivered, not because of the cold air, but because of the thought of what he had encountered before in his past rogue life. Things always lurked just beyond the shadows and he knew better than to make disturbances that were unnecessary.
Before the tom could make an announcement to the bickerings, a call came from beyond the group and he knew immediately what had called out. But before he could call out and let the others be aware of what would be arriving, one of the creatures had already snuck up. Fallenstar knew every cat was now aware of the fox. The tom had also become more aware when the voice of his own apprentice whipped him like a fish tail to the maw. How dare he? Fallenfox? The posture of the large leader had changed so fast that anyone around him could have felt threatened by him. His tall frame seemed to grow as his hackles rose and his pelt that normally hung long and smooth was suddenly fluffed up and out, surrounding his muscular body like a wildfire engulfing a field. His fangs were now bared and his eyes wild and strange as his claws were unsheathed.
With a running leap, Fallenstar was already ahead of the others in the group, knowing full well that the queens from both clans would protect the young ones, no matter which clan they belonged to. The tom was nearing in on one of the two foxes that had now appeared. It seemed to be that a female rogue was distracting it and so he took the open opportunity to pounce. There was already so much commotion that the tom was trying his best to stick to one fox.
The leader of ShadowClan landed evenly between the foxes shoulders and he clamped his jaw onto the back of his neck. It was a bad position to grip but he was unable to reach the creatures jugular so he did the next best thing that he could. He had gripped its neck to pull its head back in hopes that one of the cats in the group would understand and go for the bottom of the foxes throat. But if someone didn't act fast, this animal would soon overtake him. He may be an overly large tom but the fox was strong and sly and no matter what the feline did, he knew without help, the lycanthropic creature would overtake him soon enough. He also hoped that one of the cats wouldn't now mistake him as one of the foxes in the fury of flying claws and growling due to his close resemblance to the animals.

death doesn't discriminate
Fern didn’t let one inch of fear govern her actions. Despite the fact she was almost shaking she kept the cold sneer on her face. ”Come here, good mutt” Even though it couldn’t understand her she felt good insulting it. Taking a few more paces back she forced her gaze to stay on the fox, not to glance up as a dark tabby leapt onto the creature.
Ahah! One clan-cat had common sense. She watched the next few blows between the fox and feminine, trying to decide the best approach. Another figure flew towards them, the red-furred leader. As he leaped onto the back of the large fox Fern dove forward once more. Her broad shoulders slammed into the foxes legs as slid underneath it.
She knew the tom had wanted her-anyone, to go for the neck but she couldn’t do that without risking more harm to become to the dark tabby who was being tossed around like a ragdoll. Fern just needed to focus on getting the foxes attention.
A paw shot up as hard as she could, jagged claws digging into the flesh as she ripped down its stomach. And down a bit more. Blood sprayed from the wound, coating herself and the snow in a sheet of ruby red fluid. She knew she should move, get out from underneath the creature before she was squashed but she couldn’t think above the rushing in her head. The rushing was telling her to destroy it, rip it apart piece by piece.
One of her paws still embedded in it’s stomach she snapped her teeth towards the loose folds of skin in the joints of it’s legs. It would not die swiftly, no, it was going to suffer the slow death it had been wanting to inflict on them.
This beast has messed with the wrong cats.

let go of the light | fall into the dark side |
Bluepaw heard something, smelt something before it leaped on her. How foolish it was to think she couldn’t sense it. She was Bluepaw, a murderer cloaked in a blue-furred skin. Despite knowing she could turn, try to fight, she couldn’t do it. She didn’t have it in her. She didn’t have anything in her. The snapping of jaws around her midsection didn’t even make her flinch. The fangs that poked into her stomach didn’t make her scream. It hurt, it hurt like hell, but it was nice to feel something. Nice enough that she didn’t put up a fight as she was hauled into the air like a ragdoll, then tossed back down.
Some deep, primal part of her took control and she twisted her body to land on her back. the kittens, think of the kittens her mind was thrumming, trying to awaken her. However, her mind was squashed and forgotten as her head slammed into the snow, cracking against the hard, frozen ground beneath it. Stars and black fog was flooding through her eyes, the pain in her back, in her spine just another source of pain. She couldn’t breath, couldn’t move. She felt like she had been splintered in two, her midsection writhing in pain and her hindlegs fuzzy.
She wasn’t seriously injured, at least not yet. She ignored the fox, trying to get any amount of oxygen into her system. She still couldn’t see anything through her good eye and couldn’t help but whimper. If she lost sight to both her eyes she wouldn’t be able to handle herself. Her spotty vision was drawn to the fox as it pranced over her like she was a kitten and leaned over to snap his jaws over her bony leg. She found her breath, at least enough to let out a horrific sort of wail. All of the fuzziness gone.
She could feel his fangs inside of her leg, scraping into the muscle and across the bone. The lack of air going into her and the pain was making some of these feelings up but it felt so real. Maybe because it was real. As the fox started pulling her she tried to do something, anything. Her muscles were slack, out of her control. She couldn’t dig her claws into the ground, she couldn’t do anything.
She was useless, she was rotten, she was horrible. And she was about to die. A fitting end for someone like her. but the kits- a pang of sorrow ran underneath the pain but she didn’t try fight the fox. It was too late for her, she had no one, no one that cared enough to save her. She was broken, inside and out. Maybe death would be relief.

EVEN WHEN IM ANGRY, EVEN WHEN IM COLD don't you ever leave me, don't leave me alone Otterkit was having fun. The tree was slippery and he had nearly fallen a few times but he was so high up! He didn’t know what fear was, instead was best friends with courage. Or stupidity? He was completely focused in finding a way to the top. He was up to the middle branch and was slung across it, panting for breath, when Vipernose bounded over.
Something in her words made sense but he was in a kit mood so he poked his tongue out playfully ”I want to climb to the top, Viper! Come climb with me” As she slowly made her way up his expression turned into one of radiant joy ”We are going to have so much fun!” He wriggled back to make room for her, not expecting her to grab his scruff and jump down.
As the ground rushed up to meet him he squealed, kicking her legs out. After the danger of being squashed passed he quietened to be a good passenger ”So there really is a fox?” his voice trembling. He was too scared to go look at where he had seen the flash of red before. As he dropped her next to over kit he looked at her with wide eyes ”V-viper, please be safe” his voice was soft, scared.
Tears ran down his face as he watched her sprint away, making no move to follow. He did clamber onto the nearest queen’s shoulder, watching the cat he had grown fond of run into danger. He watched her with wide eyes, holy gods she was an amazing fighter. He never associated Vipernose with that type of power but he did now.
It all turned around too fast, though, and the fox had grabbed Vipernose. The second its teeth hooked it into Viper’s scruff Otterkit started howling. How dare it hurt her? His high-pitched wailing didn’t stop, fear causing the tears to thicken on his cheeks. The cold wind started creeping into his open mouth so he shut it, shaking all over. He had to do something, he couldn’t do nothing. He couldn’t sit around.
Tearing his eyes away from the fox he spotted a familiar face. Marigoldpelt, medicine cat the name sounded like heaven on his trembling lips and he had leaped into the snow without a second thought. He was too small, too fast to be stopped and he ran, ran like hell. Throwing caution into the wind he hurtled towards the healer ”You” he screeched in an accusatory tone. He didn’t stop his desperate sprint towards her, barrelling straight into her leg (unless she side-stepped the ball of fluff)
He couldn’t see past the rage, the rage that the cat he associated as a mother figure was being hurt and he couldn’t help her. ”I don’t give one fuck, i don’t give two fucks if any other cats are hurt, you are going to go help Vipernose right now” his voice was a ferocious rage, words he had never dared to utter before spewing from his mouth. He instantly felt bad, like he was going to get scolded and a big smack but he was just copying Owlpaw. ”So get moving” some might find it silly, a kit trying to shove a full grown cat towards a battle, snarling and snapping at her.
Marigoldpelt was close enough to see the worry, panic, fear, and loss in his gaze. He couldn’t lose Viper, he couldn’t lose the cat that made him feel good about himself. ”Please” Any of the hardass he’d tried to copy from Owlpaw was gone, his small body shaking. His lips were trembling, salty liquid creating a river down his face and over his leathery nose.
If Marigoldpelt would go help Vipernose now, all the other warriors had to do would be to distract the fox. He prayed that they would do so, that they would do anything to protect their deputy.

VipernoseA loud hiss escaped from her mouth as the fox's claws raked across her face. She felt the sting before the blood, and, damn, did it hurt like hell. But she knew it was worth it. She knew it would happen. She knew she had to resist the pain. Vipernose watched as the animal spun around and glanced between her and the rogue, beginning to lunge to pounce on it again. But before she could launch herself onto the fox, the fox threw itself at her.
Before she could move, before she could duck out of the way, before she could do anything, teeth clamped around the fur on her neck. It shook her and tossed her into the snow. She tried to lift her head, but she was too dizzy. Everything was spinning, everything was blurry. The tabby felt like throwing up, but there was nothing in her to hack out. Her head dropped down, and all she felt was helplessness. Vipernose was barely conscious, and she almost didn't register the fact that the large red mammal was dragging her away.
Her paws scrambled in the powder, trying to find something to hold on to. There was nothing. Absolutely nothing. She went limp, letting the fox pull her away for a meal. Vipernose could hear Owlpaw yelling at the two leaders, and she couldn't help but think she'd do the same thing. But right now, she couldn't. Not while she was in the jaws of a fox.
In one last attempt to see if anybody was coming to help her, she opened her eyes and lifted her head. Her amber orbs saw a flash of red and blue, and her gaze darted back to it. It was the other fox, and it had Bluepaw. How ironic that it had the deputy and the apprentice out of all the other cats. The two females were very alike, but very different. And no matter how many times Vipernose nearly bickered with the apprentice, she deserved to be cared about. Even if the blue feline didn't think so herself. But no one was helping her. Bluepaw was being dragged away just like Vipernose, but no cat seemed to notice. Bluepaw needed help.
"Bluepaw..." the molly coughed out, even though no one would hear her. "Bluepaw needs help." Vipernose needed to get someone's attention, or she needed to help the younger she-cat herself. The tabby knew she couldn't give up now, she had to get away from the animal that had her.
Vipernose twisted in its grip and reached out, successfully slashing its muzzle. As she formulated a plan in her mind, Fallenstar leaped out of nowhere and landed on the fox. Distracted, the animal let go of Vipernose, and she took that as her chance. She began to make an attempt to crawl away, barely escaping being bowled over by the female rogue. Reaching one unsheathed claw in front of the other, Vipernose weakly pulled herself away from the fight and towards the fox that had Bluepaw.
Her ears swiveled as she heard Otterkit yelling at someone to come help her. She could hear the fear in his voice, and she fought a smile at his bravery. He had probably left the group of younger cats, just like she had said not to do. But by the sound of his wailing and shouting, he didn't give a damn about what she had said. Otterkit had a one-track mind, and right now, the only thing he was doing was trying to help her. The tom's courage willed her on, and she fought her way through the snow.
The silver tabby could feel her limbs going numb from dragging herself through the freezing substance. She could feel herself slipping into unconsciousness from being thrown around and then freezing. But she had to push through. Vipernose just... Had to... Keep moving... Her movements got more powerless as she went, until they slowed completely. Her muzzle hit the snow as her neck gave out under the weight of her skull. Got to... Get... To... Bluepaw... she thought, trying not to give up. Need... To stay... Awake...
And then everything went black as Vipernose's body went still. _____________________________________________ "I thought nothing good would ever happen to me-that I was in hell after it froze over, thawed, and then burnt to the ground."

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.
Fawnstep was going to kill her. Or, at the very least, ground her to the apprentices' den for the rest of her apprenticehood once they reached their new homeland. But hey, at least then her big sister would be forced to pay her some attention, even if it meant she was getting scolded.
Letting out a high pitched screech, Lavenderpaw launched herself away from the group of cowering Windclan cats and into the thick of battle. The grey molly had never fought a day in her life, Fawnstep had made damn sure of that, but she didn't have to attack the foxes. She just had to weave and dodge and provide a good enough distraction that the hurt cats could get away. An easy, foolproof plan!
Without hesitation, Lavenderpaw followed her ears as she bounded through the snow to reach Vipernose's side. Grabbing the she-cat as gently by the loose skin of her scruff as she could, Lavenderpaw began to haul the older she-cat backward, closer to a group of cats who could help her. "Don't worry, I gotcha," Lavenderpaw slurred around the fur now firmly held in her teeth. The Windclan apprentice only had to drag the passed out deputy a few fox-lengths before a tan tabby apprentice had left his guarding position to help her the rest of the way.
With Vipernose now out of immediate danger, Lavenderpaw pointed her nose in the direction Vipernose had been looking in. Sure enough, a cat Lavenderpaw briefly remembered wandering around Winclan was begin dragged away by her leg. Without stopping to see if Fawnstep had even noticed her disappearance, Lavenderpaw was slipping away for a second time, ducking into the shelter of snow-heavy bushes to disguise her grey coat.
Lavenderpaw quickly made her way around the perimeter of the small clearing they were located in, not overly worried about the sounds her paw steps made due to the screeching of cat and fox alike. Having successfully remained undetected, the grey apprentice lept out of the bushes and landed a bite straight to the younger foxes tail. Digging the heels of her front paws into the snow, Lavenderpaw yanked her head backward in one sharp movement to send a signal to her target. As soon as the fox opened its jaws to let out a scream, Lavenderpaw swiftly jumped off to the side to avoid a retaliation. "Hey, you ugly mutt!" Lavenderpaw yelled with a grin. "I bet you can't catch me!" 411 words

--Hollowdusk leaped into action uite quickly, he was quick on his paws. His paws only touched the ground when they needed to launch himself forward more. His claws unsheathed as he got closer the the foxes, once close enough he leaped into the air tucking into himself till he was over the fox an behind it. Hollowdusk used his advantages in this fight, outwit his opponent. While foxes were not slow they were crafty, however their jaws were really the only threat as they didn't use their paws often. Though soon enough other cats came to his aid, making him take caution to attacking the fox. Like he said, the fox was quick, if a cat were to jump on it and Hollowdusk jump after, the fox could deflect his attack by using the other cat as some sort of shield. While Hollowdusk was unsure of the intelligence of these foxes, he wasn't going to underestimate it.
It was clear though when he needed to step in. A fox had gotten a hold of his deputy, Vipernose. Though now it was a amtter of time, Bluepaw had gone down too. While Bluepaw had never been Hollowdusk's official apprentice, he still felt a kinship for the molly. He twisted through the crowd of fighting. His flexibility was pretty impressive. Though it was strange, Bluepaw giving up? Hollowdusk couldn't believe it. What was the molly thinking of not fighting back? He had trained her, she was surely over qualified to defend herself properly. Something wasn't right with her. It seemed Vipernose got out with help of Fallenstar, but passed out only few seconds later. No one else seemed to be helping the apprentice, which prickled Hollowdusk's fur. He slammed into the fox holding Bluepaw, his sharp claws dove into its flesh constantly, creating as many bleeding spots as it could. Though he didn't stay in one position. Frequently he leaped off only to ram into again, similarly to how he took down his half-brother Mushroombelly when rescuing frostkit. After a few rounds of that he began to bite it's back legs quickly. Of course this would get it to let go of Bluepaw. Once it did he swatted its face with much force. That was for all the terror foxes did to his mate in the past. The slender male grabbed a hold of Bluepaw, she was very big now. This reminded him of his apprenticeship, how he had to drag geckopaw away from the fox with a mangled up paw. But his paw was fine now. He ran with bluepaw far from the foxes. -- --Mushroomstar turned away from the cats who huddled around the kits. He frowned at the fact his brother was all up taking charge as if he was a high rank. Though Mushroomstar couldn't fault him for it, Mushroomstar too had trouble not acting in charge when he wasn't a leader. Like when he was in riverclan, he just couldn't stay a medicine cat, didn't feel right after tasting the power of leadership. The fat tom slowly made his way over to where the fight with the foxes was happening, really he was expecting for them to run off by the time he got over there, since every cat was literally going to attack them. Why risk his one life when Hollowdusk could do it like he normally did. His focus went back to Honeybird for a second and he cooed at her "Does it ever hinder me?" He stopped to scratch his stomach enjoy the show of some rogues even helping fight the foxes, who were way in over their heads. Mushroomstar could hear that little rat owlpaw call out for him but he ignored the calls and slipped in with the queens and kits. In fact he heard a squeak as he saw his youngest brother Leapingkit nearly get stepped on by him. They held a heavy stare till mushroomstar finally looked away. Jeez, he looked like Raccoonleap too much. Practically a clone, it was creepy. His eyes focused on the battle and he couldn't help but nearly laugh. Shadowclan's own deputy had gone down, it was pathetic really. --

let go of the light | fall into the dark side |
Bluepaw couldn’t see Lavenderpaw but she guessed someone had attacked the fox by it’s screech. What to do? She could try to run, but she didn’t want to. She didn’t want to fight either, but if she didn’t do something it’d leave. If anyone was going to die her it’d be her, not the other cat.
She grit her teeth, pain racking through her body as she tucked her legs into her stomach then shot them out. The leg the fox had clamped onto was screaming out with pain, but she still managed to catch it in the side as it twirled to face Lavenderpaw. ”Go…to…hell” she hissed through gritted teeth, tears streaming down her face.
She was ready, so ready, to leave this world. Then she saw a flash of orange and grey fur and she turned her gaze on Hollowdusk wearily. She instantly felt a bit ashamed, she should be fighting back! A killing calm was whispering in her ear, trying to get her to listen. But the heavy, sad fog that had seeped from her heart to her head made it impossible to think. She just felt so, so tired and so, so sick.
Her body convulsed, bile coming up into her mouth before being spewed onto the ground. Her vomit was watery, obvious she hadn’t been eating enough. Of course no one had been eating enough, but if she hadn’t been eating enough for herself, what would go to her kits? Her dazed wondering was shattered as her former mentor-ish hauled her up. ”N-no” she whimpered, shaking her head.
Her body felt like it was breaking, her head swimming. Oh gods, she was going to throw up again- Or not. As she scrambled away from the fox the convulses took hold of her body again, but nothing was coming out. She had nothing else.
”Hollowdusk” she let out a groan, why was he doing this to her? She just wanted to go to sleep.

Direstrait felt Fawnstep's sneer at himself and the other rogues, sending one back her way. Petty, but worth it. He turned his attention back to the other rogues, Fern in particular, bored with the clan drama unraveling beside them. He did not react with surprise nor aggression towards the foxes, mere pity for young Maplepaw, twice in the journey to be nibbled on. Pity it was fox teeth and not his own. He had only tasted fox once; rotting and mostly carcass but all for whetting his appetite. Bit tough, and far too difficult to kill one on his own. His attention was snapped back as the clan cats plowed down on the foxes. Stupid cats, didn't they know? Foxes were like dogs, natural anger and a fierce bite. Then Ash was gone too, after some comment about his nest, running like a wuss. He bit back a snort, merely slowly his pace to a halt. He kept quiet, on the sidelines as he merely watched the fools fight the vicious. He wasn't inclined to fight unless necessary. They wouldn't fight for him, why should he fight for them?
Fern snapped back at him, a rare comment about his teeth. How amusing.
"Oh honey, you don't know anything about these teeth," he snapped them together once more, a crude smile on his maw. Direstrait breathed a short breath, a gasp perhaps, and mock surprise.
"My dear, what a shame. You could have been beautiful if it wasn't for that dirty mouth." Then she was gone, with a stinging comment about cowardice. Protecting yourself wasn't cowardice. It was selfish. He was selfish. He bared black teeth in a mock snarl as she leapt into the fight, watching boredly yet a hint of interest was sparked. It would almost be a pity if she was killed by the foxes. He turned his attention to Mushroomstar sitting out. Then he snorted, rolling his eyes. Pathetic; he thought clan cats were supposed to be team players, not this fat ass.
The dark tabby watched closely, claws unsheathing into the snow. He rolled his shoulders back, shaking himself of the chill. He was deciding. Help Fern and the strange leader who somehow knew DeNiro, or help the poor apprentice and the short furred one? Well, since Bluepaw and Hollowdusk were running away, all the more reason to run towards it. He launched himself into a steady run, taking a round the side run, and hitting the fox side on. His teeth sank into the fox's scruff, and he grasped his claws into the fox's spine, back legs scoring across his belly. He was perhaps just in reach of those dog teeth, and yet he was not phased.
Coward he was not.
