Vipernose
The tabby's amber eyes were full of warmth as she watched Otterkit talk to Inkkit, a proud feeling in her chest. Owlscreech was right... She had practically taken the little tom in as her own, though she didn't want the kit to think that. She felt that if Otterkit go too attached, he would never want to go back to RiverClan where he belonged. She didn't want that for him, and she knew that making the decision to mentor him probably wasn't the smartest. It was a selfish act of love, if she was allowing herself to call it that. Maybe it was just motherly love, or maybe it wasn't love at all. Maybe she just thought it was her duty to protect Otterkit.
The molly shook her head. She couldn't be thinking like that. She loved the brown tabby. And if she was this excited for him to become an apprentice, she could not wait until it was Sootkit's turn. She could almost picture the expression on her daughter's face when she would find out she was going to have a ceremony, the exhilaration in her eyes. Sootkit would be so happy.
The deputy smiled at the thought as she turned her head to Owlscreech, who was talking to her. She hadn't really been paying attention, but from the few words she heard and the look on his face, she could tell he was asking for help. He hadn't outright asked her, but she knew he was silently pleading. She understood that look; she had given it to many cats before. She breathed out a chuckle. "Fine, fine," she meowed, slight amusement in her voice. "I suppose I can give you lessons on the Warrior Code later."
As Vipernose watched her leader bound off, she began making her way toward the front of the growing crowd of cats, a smirk on her muzzle. She planted herself in front of the ledge so that she was facing toward her clan, pride causing her chest to puff out. Even though she couldn't wait for her dear Sootkit's turn, Vipernose couldn't hold back her elation. Little Otterkit was continuing on in the pawsteps of life, and she would be at his side the whole journey.
