The only thing that's ever stopping me is me, hey!
"What was Windclan like?" It was a question Jackalkit had always asked her clanmates, as even though she was from a long lineage of Windclan cats, she had never seen their old mountain home.
Jackalkits mother, Featherbreeze, had only found out she was pregnant as Windclan fled from their precious moorland. Her mate, and Jackalkits father, Silverfox, had been one of many who perished due to the plague Mushroomstar had unknowingly released into their homes. Not that any cats knew about their leaders grave sin, though.
While Jackalkits spirits had never been crushed along the journey, not even after her mother's heroic death, now that Windclan had finally returned home it was as if her energy levels doubled. It wasn't all bad, however, as her clanmates were able to make use of her energy to help put the clearing in order. There was moss to be put in place, along with tall grasses to weave a liner around the base of camp in order to fortify the camp.
Despite her usual rowdiness, Jackalkit was currently laying beside her adoptive mother, Speckledleaf and her sister, Silverkit. The three of them were taking an afternoon break and enjoying everyone's company and was the main trigger of Jackalkits question."Was it just as beautiful as it is here? I wish our mom could have seen this place." 223 words

Speckledleap blinks softly purring, Silverkit was quietly nipping playfully at her twitching tail. "Think of open grassy or sandy like plains with holes where you would rest in or chase rabbits in. The wind gently blowing at your face." She said as she gently started to groom Jackalkit's pelt. "I'm sure she is...along with my parents." She said softly her eyes watering just thinking about it.

Jackalkits eyes began to softly droop as Speckledleap began to groom her soft coat. She had a Windclan build, thanks to the many generations of full-blooded Windclan cats in her veins, with fur that was just thick enough to protect her against the chilly air that rolled over the open space of the moorlands. At the mention of tunnels, Jackalkit opened her eyes a little wider, happily exclaiming that "There are tunnels here too, Mom! Maybe we aren't so far away from home after all."
Oblivious to the moisture that pooled at the edges of Speckledleap's eyes, Jackalkit pawed at a bug in the grass while humming. "Do you think Starclan followed us all the way out here?" She asked in an innocent, yet clearly curious tone. Jackalkit may be seven moons old, but the brown and red tabby still had a lot of questions about the world. "I've heard some of the warriors say that they're worried Starclan won't be able to watch over us, 'cause this was The Towers territory before they gave it to us." 178 words

Speckledleap considered the tunnels before replying, "No these tunnels were made by something else, not cats, but maybe." She said purring smiling at she paws at the bug. She held stand as Silverkit managed to climb on her back before pouncing on Jackalkit playfully giggling softly. She tilts her amber and blue eyes as Jackalkit asked about Starclan clan. "I'm sure Starclan would find a way to follow us."

Entirely fixated on this bug, Jackalkit wiggled her rump in the air. Despite her large size, seeing as she was slightly taller than the average seven month old she-cat, Jackalkit still very much acted like a kitten. She had yet to take up her apprentice duties, and therefore had no reason to blossom into a mature young lady.
As strong paws fell onto her back, the young feline let out a squeal as her backside was pinned to the ground. The bug she had been tracking skittered away due to the noise, but Jackalkit had long forgotten about the silly beetle. She twisted her upper body around and slapped Silverkit right on the nose before facing forward again, throwing her front paws forward and sinking her claws into the soft grass. She yanked herself forward with all her strength, causing her legs to slide out from under Silverkit with enough velocity to topple forward, land on her face, and somersault onto her belly.
Jumping onto her paws, Jackalkit let out a playful hiss as she rushed at Silverkit, pelting into her sister at full force and knocking them both into the dirt. She scrabbled with her sister as she tried to find a good place to put her paws that allowed her to pin the silver tabby down, seeming to forget all about her conversation with Speckledleap in the face of a play fight. 234 words

Silverkit yowls as she was slapped acrossed her nose and then knocked off her paws. Before she knew it she was struggling to unpinned herself but lack the strength to do so looking more and more like a wiggling worm than a kit.

Jackalkit was a good head taller than Silverkit, and with her larger size came a stronger build, and thus, Jackalkit often overpowered her sister. Once she finally found her footing, the earthy-hued she-cat pinned the small kitten to the ground, holding her in place by her shoulders. Jackalkit stood victoriously on top of her squirming sister, her head tilted down so she was looking into Silverkit's face with a wide, toothy smile. "Didja give up yet?" Jackalkit teased as a purr, heavy with laughter, rolled off her tongue. "You're almost not fun to play with anymore, Silverkit! You always lose." Bunching her muscles, Jackalkit sprang off her sister and into the grass beside her. She pressed her nose gently against her sister's cheek affectionately before she was able to scramble to her paws. "Big sister perks, I suppose. I gotta stay strong so I can fight off any cat dumb enough to mess with my baby sister!"
Jackalkit pranced the few tail-lengths back to Speckledleaps side, her tail flying high from her most recent victory. She sat beside her foster mother, tossing her head over her shoulder to bat her eyelashes innocently at Silverkit as she trailed after her. Turning her attention back to Speckledleap, Jackalkit stretched her paws in front of her, curving her spine and sinking her claws into the grass in front of her. "Do you think we'll get our apprentice names soon?" The she-cat asked after a yawn escaped her lips. "All I've ever known is walking, and our camp is great and all, but it's just sooo boring to sit here every day! I want to explore the territory Radio gave us." 277 words

Silverkit snorts softly as Jackalkit claims she wasn't fun to play with anymore but purrs softly to the nuzzle, "Well I guess you'll have to teach me to get stronger...what if we get separated?" She asked softly as she paws her back. She sits where she was at watching Jackalkit curiously. Speckledleap tilts her head, "It shouldn't be long but if you two are so bored...I suppose we could take an early tour." She said with a wink.

Separated?! What, that could never happen! They were in the same Clan! They were the same age! Starclan would have to come down to earth themselves if they wanted to separate Silverkit from her! "They could never!" Jackalkit said defensively as she shot to her paws and flanked her only littermates left side. Silverkit was the only blood relative Jackalkit had left in Windclan, and she would not slip through her claws so easily.
"I mean, I guess we might not train together every day, but I'm sure there will be stuff we can do together! We can go on hunting tasks together, or practice new battle techniques! And, if we are apart during the day, I'll always be back in the den by sundown so I can tell you everything that happened that day!" Purring, Jackalkit sat next to the light-hued molly and began to affectionately groom her ears. "They can't keep me away from my baby sister for very long, I'd like to see them try!"
The purr that rumbled strong from Jackalkits throat almost blocked out the sound of Speckledleaps soft meow as she spoke up once again. Instantly Jackalkit had gone quiet, head snapping to stare directly at the older molly with awe sparkling in her green eyes. "Really?" She meowed in a breathy tone. "We can just do that? Let's go right now! Can we? Pleeeease Speckledleap!" The earthy kitten was on her toes in a flash, bounding towards her mother figure and running the length of her flank against the warrior's legs. "We won't wander off! We'll stay beside you the whole time!" 269 words

Silverkit purrs and returned to the affectionately grooming to her own sister's ear, "That sounds like fun." She said now reassured, "Still I would like to be stronger as well as you." She said but her ears perked up to her adopted mom's idea and grins.
Speckledleap's grin grew as she thought, "of course, This would be your last time stuck in the nursey with me...Let's make the most of it, Where would you like to go?"

"I'll train you myself!" the brownish red molly announced. "You really aren't weak though, Silverkit, you know I just like to tease you. You have nothing to worry about." Jackalkit eyed her sister for a moment as if she was trying to figure out if Silverkit really thought Jackalkit was 'better' or 'stronger' than her. However, as Speckledleap began to speak, Jackalkits attention was drawn away from the silver kitten as a wide smile appeared on Jackalkits lips.
"Can we see the moorlands? I hear they're super beautiful, with lots of open space for running!" Walking slightly ahead of Speckledleap now, Jackalkit was practically coaxing her mother out of camp as if they were attached by a string. "I want to see all the wildflowers growing there and see if they smell just as good as everyone always says!"
"Come on, let's go! We have to get there while the sun's still up!" and with that, Jackalkit was bounding out of camp with Speckledleap and Silverkit in toe. 168 words
