Mushroomstar Life in the new lands was good enough. The prey was plentiful, it finally wasn't freezing cold, the sun was actually out and not covered in a blanket of clouds. Though now that windclan was here Mushroomstar couldn't slack off like before. He had an excuse to not do leader duties because there was no home yet, but now? He had to do them whether he liked it or not.
He had lost a good bit of pounds on the journey, sporting a look he hadn't seen in many moons. He was starting to look more like his shadowclan era form. Not actually that fat but thick furred with muscles hidden underneath. Of course these muscles were really all in his back legs at this point or at the tip of his front paws from the endless walking and climbing.
The unpopular leader arose from his comfy den which he had already started to lace with the skulls of prey like he did during his first rein of windclan. He stepped out of his den and meowed in his naturally loud voice "Windclan! It's time for a clan meeting! One that has been absent for far too long!" He was sure many felines would think he would be choosing a deputy, but no. He had something else in mind. Plus the tom was interesting in giving up his iron paw for a cat he didn't really know. He was tired of having deputies that didn't work out.

The only thing that's ever stopping me is me, hey!
Directly outside the nursery, a den that sat at ground level with the camp to ensure no wandering kittens would dash outside and injure themselves by slipping down a steep, rocky path, was Jackalkit and her sister Silverkit. The brown tabby was currently on top of her sister, playfully growling while tugging sharply on one of Silverkit's ears.
Jackalkit and her sister had been born in the city that Windclan briefly settled in after the plague. Because of this, the sisters experienced a rather strange upbringing despite being full-blooded Windclan cats. They hadn't grown up in a secure camp, listening to elder tales. They hadn't grown up bothering the busy apprentices about what they were learning, begging them to teach them just one battle move so they would be ahead of the other apprentices when they reached six months of age! Instead, the sisters learned about loss at a very early age and spent the rest of the journey tucked protectively beside Speckledleap, a kind she-cat who decided to care for the kittens herself.
Jackalkit was now seven moons old, and she was rather tall for her age. Her lithe build might even fool you into thinking she was a molly who was faster on her feet than swinging a paw, but Jackalkit had the strength of a bear! ... Or so cats said, anyway, and she had no reason not to believe them.
As Mushroomstars voice reached Jackalkits ears, they twisted forward in high alert. She released Silverkit from her hold as she sprang off the she-cat before shoving her nose into her face."Did you hear that?" Jackalkit asked with a sudden seriousness. "Mushroomstar is summoning the Clan! Hurry, we have to attend too!" After all, who had ever heard of "cats who are old enough to catch their own prey"? Definitely not Jackalkit! 305 words

Silverkit growls and yowls softly playfully wiggling as she tries to shake Jackalkit off of her. She turns to pounce on her sister while she was distracted.Speckledleap's ears perked up to the call and stands up, "Come little ones, Let's find out what this is about." She said softly athought she silently already knew and it made her happy and sad. Silverkit started to grin as the silver tabby races ahead to meet the group.

~GLADEWHISPER~WindClan
Gladewhisper's ears twitched at the sound of Mushroomstar's call, and she padded quickly towards him where the clan was to gather. She flicked her tail-tip excitedly. It was so great to finally be done with all the traveling, and it felt truly refreshing to gather in their own camp. She sat down, curling her tail around her paws, watching attentively for the meeting to start.

Boulderstorm "Only The weak stand down"
Sprawled out and relaxing in the bright rays of light, The thick figured maine coon mix would have been just spending his start of the day soaking in the sun. He held a thick coat that was helpful during the long traveling in cold weather but it also held isolation to keep him from over heating in the sunlight. A perfect match for all weather. Ears flicked as movement began around him along with the call of the leader, a meeting. Did he need to move? Perhaps.
As he forcefully made himself get up, he allowed himself to think. What was this meeting about? The clan had been Deputy less for.. He didn't know. He honestly didn't pay much attention to the high ranks, however such a spot did promise some cat power. Power any cat probably could want. There was also.. Kits. Were they growing up? A lip raised slightly in disgust at him even training something so.. small. He would end up crushing it and then be stuck between a rock and a hard place of explaining that. He could have probably found a way around it if it actually did ever happen.
It took a moment but the tom would have hauled himself up, watching as two kits and what he assumed was their mother running on to the meeting like a crow that just spotted the first berry it had seen in a long time. Boulderstorm would have made his way past, attempting not to trip on any one before settling himself near the back where he would just lay back out again. Listening and waiting.

Mushroomstar Mushroomstar made his way from his den entrance to the top of the small cliff some of windclan's dens were located in. On the top the grass stopped growing due to a large rock being cemented there. Mushroomstar stepped on the rock feeling power in his paws it almost made him want to start laughing a bit but he held back his glee.
Mushroomstar meowed loudly "Cats of windclan, its been a few days since we've arrived in this camp. Just as Radio declared this land is full of prey and we shall all have our fill for once in many moons. Now that we are back on track we need to get this clan back on training new warriors!" His eyes gazed down at Jackalkit and Silverkit. He meowed "Jackalkit, and Silverkit. You both are far old enough to be apprentices and therefore I ask for you to come up here with me for your ceremony." He waited for the two kittens to make there way to him and then he meowed "Jackalkit, you have reached the age of six moons. From now on until you earn your warrior you shall be known as Jackalpaw." Mushroomstar glanced over at Boulderstorm and meowed "Boulderstorm. you are ready for an apprentice and shall be Jackalpaw's mentor." Mushroomstar continued on with the ceremony. "Silverkit, you have reached the age of six moons. From now on until you earn your warrior you shall be known as Silverpaw." His head turned to Gladewhisper and he meowed again "Gladewhisper, you are ready for an apprentice and shall be Silverpaw's mentor." Mushroomstar snorted a bit "I expect to see good results from both groups. Do not let me down these are our future." He then cleared his throat "This concludes the ceremony and therefore meeting..."

Silverkit's eyes widen in surprise as she approaches to where Mushroomstar was at with trembling paws as she glances around curious on who their mentor would be. She glances to Speckledleap who reassured her that everything would be fine. She heard who Jackalpaw's mentor would be and gently paws her with a small grin on her face. When She found out who was her mentor was she gently touches noses with Gladewhisper and smile softly.

The only thing that's ever stopping me is me, hey!
The busy chatter that had settled over the camp like a thick morning fog had been shattered as every cat in, and directly around the camp, stopped whatever task they had on their paws to heed Mushroomstars call. Having been one of the first cats to plop her haunches into the yellow grass below Mushroomstars den, Jackalkit found herself craning her neck to watch as the cats of Windclan poured into the clearing. A range of emotions could be seen on her clanmates faces as they slotted themselves into place around her. Some of them looked curious, some overjoyed to be returning to Clan traditions, and others gazed at her with a knowing glint in their eyes, although Jackalkit herself remained oh so unaware of what was about to happen.
Once the Clan was accounted for, Mushroomstar confidently lept into a speech that, despite Windclans rocky relationship with their leader, pulled a number of supportive yowls from the listening cats. Even Jackalkit, as young and naive as she was, found herself raising her voice with her clanmates. That was when Mushroomstar turned his piercing blue eyes onto her, and Jackalkit briefly wondered if she had done something wrong as she forced herself to sit up straighter; to appear larger. She raised her eyes confidently to look into his own, and when they locked gazes and the golden tom refused to break contact with even a blink, the last words he had spoken seemed to finally reach her ears. Now that we are back on track we need to get this clan back on training new warriors!
A ripple of excitement traveled from the ends of Jackalkits whiskers to the very tip of her tail as she lept to her paws, her head instinctively whipping up to look at Speckledleap as if to ask "Is this really happening?!" Everything in her body told her to shoot forward, to scale the side of the cleft as fast as she possibly could to reach Mushroomstar- and that's when her green gaze landed on Silverkit. The poor molly looked shocked, maybe even terrified and Jackalkit had to bring a paw to her muzzle to hide a laugh. She quickly masked her amusement with an encouraging smile, running the entirety of her body against her sisters as she overtook her, her tail lingering by her littermates face for just a moment, briefly taunting her for being just out of her reach.
Having bounded up the steep slope to reach Mushroomstar in record time, Jackalkit sent a quick prayer to Starclan that her jubilant attitude would bring some peace to Silverkit. The earthy-toned kitten stood proudly, a wide smile stretched across her maw as she looked at the Clan below her as Mushroomstar began speaking again. She flexed her claws in excitement as her attention was drawn to the golden tom, her wide green eyes trained on him so intensely that it was like she could see straight through him. As her new name, Jackalpaw, left the leaders lips for the first time, her eyes seemed to double in size. Jackalpaw turned to face her Clan, beaming, as Boulderstorm was called to serve as her mentor. Her smile never faltered as the clan turned to look at the young warrior, instantly singling him out of the crowd. With a hop, Jackalpaw zipped down the slope to greet her new mentor, catching herself just shy of crashing into his large legs as her front paws rose from the ground to give her the extra height she needed to press her nose into his.
As Windclan chanted her name, Jackalpaw fixed her eyes on Boulderstorm as she took in the sight of her new mentor. She offered him a hopeful smile before tilting her head to watch Silverkit's ceremony as it unfolded before her. It ended much how you might expect- with Jackalpaw shouting "Silverpaw! Silverpaw!" louder than anybody else and promptly tackling her sister to the dirt as Mushroomstar drew the ceremony to a close around them. 670 words

Boulderstorm
"Only The Weak Back down"
The meeting had continued, everyone facing the leader and those he saw, sitting up with posture. He kept his frame in his relaxed position until.. Something was off. He felt eyes burn into his pelt from Mushroomstar and the clan looking at him when his name was announced. How unfortunate. He was selected to mentor a small pipsqueak. He didn't feel very enthused. Most would probably think it was a honor to train someone young, thought it meant their skills were looked highly on for it. None of this was a thought in the large males mind.
His golden gaze watched as the bundle raced towards him, almost ramming into his front paws. Yep, this one showed a lot of potential, Boulderstorm thought sarcastically. He would dip his head to 'gently' touch Jackalpaw's nose only do to tradition and being looked at. "I'll do my best to train this one, Mushroomstar" He vocalized, only confirming he would try his /best/ at making this young cat not a failure. The large males ears would have drawn back, purely out of annoyance of how loud everything gotten by screeching cats name's including the small kitten in front of him.

~GLADEWHISPER~WindClan
Gladewhispers eyes widened in surprise as her name was called. She quickly rose to her paws to meet her new apprentice, a smile expanding on her face. She lightly touched noses with the little apprentice, blinking cheerfully at her. "Thank you," she purred. "It is an honor to train this apprentice." She glanced back at Silverpaw, smiling. "I'll teach you everything I know," she promised, a flash of excitement in her eyes. It almost felt as if she was staring at her own kit, her mind filled with the possible futures she would have with her new apprentice. Pride filled her green gaze.
